Tom Walt's new comics project

"Way back in the EARLY 2000s, I saw this image on Digital Webbing. It was love at 1st sight. I contacted the artist @CaseyMaloney & asked if he wanted to work w/me on my 1st comic. He did! And now we've come full-circle, back to #TMNT. New project soon! (Hint: not #TheLastRonin)"

Is this TMNT related? From the wording it's hard to gauge but it could be for anything else.

I thought Marvel had a policy barring crossovers except the rare occasions with DC because money talks. Well, I always wanted to see the TMNT work alongside both Daredevil and Spider-Man. Looks like it will happen, at least with Daredevil.

It also concerns me about the fate of the ongoing. Without Tom it has been spinning its wheels splashing mud all over.

The pic he posted is just old fanart of the artist he's working with. Nothing indicates any kind of Marvel crossover is happening.

I think the phrase "back to #TMNT" means exactly that.

Obviously it's not actually a Daredevil crossover... But it sure would be nice if that happened.

With all due respect to Tom, if we're getting a new series altogether, it would be interesting to see what a new writer who has no previous ties to IDW's TMNT would do.

I assumed this would be a mini-series that takes place in the world of the on-going, but perhaps he really does mean "new project" to the full extent.

If so, I'd agree with you. Tom has done all kinds of good work for the TMNT, and it'd be cool to see what someone else can do.
I'm hoping that the success of The Last Ronin will open some doors when it comes to allocated budget for TMNT comics, as well as interest from other writers in the industry, who have been reminded of how kick-ass the TMNT can be.
I'm not holding my breath for this, but what I'd really love to see would be my favorite high-profile creators taking a shot at TMNT, even if that just means a variant when it comes to artists. Frank Quitely, Greg Capullo, Jerome Opena, Grant Morrison, Gerard Way, Jonathan Hickman, etc. Yeah, I know that is unlikely, but that's what I'd love to see. And I think TMNT are deserving.
