Thee people died and at least 50 were injuried on Monday when an Amtrak Intercity passenger train travelling from Los Angeles towards Chicago hit a dump truck on a public railway crossing northeast of Kansas City in Missouri, causing the train to derail.

Two of the dead persons were inside the railway cars, while the third was inside the truck. 243 passengers and 12 crew members were inside the train.
