X-Men 97 Animated Cartoon Disney+

Marvel Studios
@MarvelStudios

Marvel Studios' X-Men '97, an animated Original Series, coming in 2023 to
@DisneyPlus
. #DisneyPlusDay

Among those returning are Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast), Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler), Christopher Britton (Mr. Sinister), Catherine Disher (Jean Grey), Chris Potter (Gambit), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), and Alyson Court (Jubilee).

New voices will include Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio, and we're assuming they'll be delivering their takes on both familiar characters and perhaps even a few additions who weren't part of the show the first time around.

Beau DeMayo will serve as Head Writer and executive producer on X-Men '97, while Jake Castorena and Charley Feldman have been tapped as supervising director and supervising producer respectively. Don't fret, though as X-Men: The Animated Series writers Eric and Julia Lewald and director Larry Houston will all return to the beloved property in consultant roles.

This is going to be terrible, why continue 90s x-men? It already had a finale that worked, it already told all the stories that it had to tell, there is no point in reviving x-men.

I defended the 90s animated X-men show and I think it's good but it's a product of its time, if they take that away it won't be the same show, it'll be a rehash that it'll either just be lame or try too hard to appeal to a jaded audience of 30 year olds who don't remember how the show actually was and just have vague memories and that's what they want.

I don't understand it either, but the original creators are behind it which is pretty interesting. I have so much love for the show that I'm definitely going to give it a chance, but it does seem a bit puzzling, as opposed to just making a new animated series.

The only thing that I would like to see is crossovers with the rest of the Marvel universe, seeing the 90s version of spider-man, hulk, fantastic four interact with the x-men would be great, we already know they are in the same universe. It'll be great to see Jubilee as a main character again though as well as the 90s designs.

The bad is the designs will likely be updated and not fully resemble their 90s look. If we do get other marvel characters they'd be the current MCU personalities like all animated shows have been even though Iron Man is very different from MCU Iron Man. I'm sure they would not acknowledge the Marvel Animated Universe from the 90s, especially not their Avengers team.

I find this puzzling too, but I will give it a chance. I'm surprised some of the original voice actors are returning. So do they ignore the last episode Graduation Day or they sticking with Xavier staying with Lilandra.

I wonder if this could be testing the waters for other old shows to return ("cough" Gargoyles "cough"). A few days ago I saw that Kim Possible could be getting a revival/sequel to the old show. But nothing was mentioned today.

As good as X-Men Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men are, being better than the comics and movies produced at the time, the 90s one was the most commercially succesful and memorable. It's the Fred Wolf of X-cartoons whether you feel good or bad about it. It was also reran on Disney channels throughout the 2000s, so both us 90s kids as well as that decade's generation have grown up with it and now have influence in the industry.

Does the original show hold up at all? I grew up with X-Men Evolution and I’d love to see them do a season 5 and adapt the Dark Phoenix arc.

Of Course it does. The 90's show did arcs better than the damn Fox- Movies did. Go watch the 5 part 90's X-men Phoenix Saga that's all you need.

Its cool that they are getting all the original voice actors, However Norm Spencer who was the voice of Cyclops passed away last year, So they will more then likely recast Cyclops.

Nah, they should just kill him and pretend he was never there, like the immortal classic X-Men 3. Everybody knows that the movies do things the best way because more people see them, or something. So that's what they should do. There's precedent!

You're forgetting the most important question. Will Rogue still have Dat Ass?

If not then what the f*ck is the point?

Those were the days. I honestly hardly gave a crap about Marvel even back then, but I always had a few million unborn children to squeeze out for Rogue.

Back then, if your Dad hid his porno stash, in a pinch Wizard was almost as good. Especially during that phase where they plastered Rogue and Vampirella all over everything.

Suffice to say, my memories of the 90s comics scene are a bit kinder than some other folks', for various reasons.

If a revival project gets them to issue the complete 90s series in a Blu-ray set then all's forgiven regardless of what they do going forward.

I know they all got single-season sets but I missed them and they're getting expensive now.

That's best case scenario.

Just hoping they keep the woke **** out of it. I mean the characters are diverse enough as is even before diversity is a thing. Let's not have 'a very special' episode where Rogue finds out she's bi or Gambit is trans.

This is either going to be huge or a failed revival and probably not anywhere inbetween.

I hate to say it but it will probably not do as well as they think. I've done the nostalgia thing across a variety of media and material and going back rarely holds up, unfortunately.

One of the few things that does is Batman TAS and FW TMNT, but those work well as "background noise".

For anything made after roughly 2014? Good f*cking luck.

Ouch. I can only really tolerate FW TMNT as exactly that. Every time I sit and try to actually watch any of it after the first "season", it gets a lot worse than I'd remembered. If I tried to revisit that show often I'd f*cking haaate it by now, I'm sure.

I feel like I'm as big a fan of the original series as most people (I even tried to collect a full run of the tie-in comic book), but...

I'm just...

not into this revival as everybody else I seem to know online.

If this happened 10-15 years ago, I'd be excited. But this is Disney's Marvel and that's not going to go so well. Especially if they use it as a test for what they can get away with in their eventual MCU debut.
