From the Rudolph stop motion classic: Favorite Misfit Toy?

One week left before Christmas!

There are sadly too many of them for a poll, but if you need a refresher, here are all the main and background toys and a few from the 2001 CGI movie.

https://christmas-specials.fandom.com/wiki/Misfit_Toys

Charlie-in-the-Box
Dolly
Spotted Elephant
Cowboy who rides an ostrich
Train with square wheels on his caboose
Scooter for Jimmy
Water pistol that squirts jelly
Bird that swims
Boat that can't stay afloat
A winged bear
Airplane that can't fly
A wind-up mouse in a set of nesting clown dolls
Two tin soldiers
A sailboat that can't stay afloat
A pink fire truck
A blue race car
A blue bicycle
A white rocking horse
A push up toy cat
A kite who's afraid of heights
A piggy bank with no slot
A boomerang that doesn't come back

The plane has always been my personal favorite, even own the plushie.

Honorable mention to the bird that is murdered at the very end. Unknown if the plane suffered the same fate.

I'm going with the train.

Neither Dolly, the bicycle, the polka-dotted elephant, Scooter, the racecar, the cat, or The Tin Soldiers had to be there and they appeared to be normal looking toys.

I didn't see the winged bear.

As for the ending, umbrellas were given to the toys that couldn't fly. The snow would have cushioned their descent towards the ground. How they got inside the houses without chimneys was another thing altogether.

I’d say the elephant. I dunno, he’s just cute.

I noticed last night that there are light-up Misfit Toy yard decorations and now I'm sad that the plane is $70+ (only 24 inches!) and it's too close to Christmas. Maybe next year.

Ah, but not the poor bird that can't fly, only swim.

The elf pulls the bird out of the bag, grabs an umbrella, looks at the bird, looks at the umbrella, basically goes "Nah," and tosses the bird over the side of the sleigh without one.

RIP Misfit Bird.

Why Santa didn't bother to deliver them under a tree himself is strange. Were those poor kids he'd normally skip, but would surely love the first toy they ever received, imperfect or not, and can't be bothered to stop at their homes to deliver them?

I never noticed it or the few other obscure ones either, but... there it be, and the push-up cat and pink fire truck (among others) in the background.

edit: As far as Dolly goes... whether they had it in mind back then or only came up with it more recently, Arthur Rankin Jr., the Rankin in the Rankin/Bass group, supposedly "revealed" a few years ago the reason Dolly is "broken" is psychological, suffering depression after being abounded or rejected by her original owner.
