Silje case taken up again
I heard about this in November last year, but didn't find any sources in English until now.
On 15 October 1994, 5 years old girl Silje RedergÄrd was found dead in Trondheim, Norway. Three boys in her age were pointed out and the media were quick to blame it all on the Power Rangers, or even the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Then, before Christmas 2021, the case was investigated again. It seemed that the accused children first testified that they saw young people abusing Silje, before changing their stories and later admitting guilt. https://www.tellerreport.com/news/20...rkxEQWdFt.html https://www.deseret.com/1994/10/20/1...-power-rangers |

What a sad case. Where were the parents in all that?
Maybe it was different times (but still not SO different) and that community might have had a lot of trust in each other (?)... but today the idea of letting 5 and 6-year-olds be at a playground alone, and for long enough and far enough out of eyesight of adults that one is even able to get the crap beaten out of her and end up freezing to death... just sounds incredibly absurd. Empathy and all that might still be fairly early in development at that age, but come on... Power Rangers, Turtles, or anything else be damned, someone failed to teach one or more of those kids that harming other people around them is wrong. |
