I find it a bit sad that WarioWare has sub-planted Wario Land as Wario's main series. Not that WarioWare is bad, I just find it strange and a little off-putting that something so distant in gameplay and presentation overtook it.

And WarioLand had already taken over the SuperMario Land series, so I suppose it is appropriate.

Eh, I kind of just think of SML as mainline Mario with more off-brand elements that would still fit into other mainline Mario games. Like sure, I doubt we'll ever get another Mario game in which the bosses are a human witch, a giant rat with a spiky nose, the three little pigs, a giant raven, an alien and an octopus (that isn't based on Blooper), but you could totally still put any of them into a new SMB game and I don't think anyone would blink an eye. It's not really different in gameplay or aesthetics, it's just that it mostly contained new ideas and because it mostly ignored the more familiar ones. Hell, the Shy Guys are only Mario enemies because they reskinned another game and they keep showing up all the time.

It's really a shame. Not sure if it's because of sales, or WarioWare is just cheaper and easier to make. Maybe it's both. But at least we have AntonBlast to look forward to.

The last Wario Land game, Shake It on the Wii, is one of Nintendo's best platformers that few people have played.

The wii game is very good! I 100% completed years ago, a lot of fun.
