In other words being a fictional universe you can play around with actual history and bend it as needed to accommodate your story for this particular universe? I can buy that.

As for Saki and Kitsune being married or not, I took it as a common law marriage that happened in Feudal Japan between non-arranged couples. Whatever, it is still the first time Saki has ever had a love interest all of his own.

Glad to see that I signaled out a piece of the puzzle in regards to the need for Kitsune to go into stasis.
