Pausing on Future Diary, my interest in it has diminished. Catching up on attack on titan season 2, and boy does the show know how to surprise its audience.

Started watching I Couldn't Become A Hero So I Reluctantly Decided To Get A Job. I'm 2 episodes in and I already like it. The characters are fun and the setting is interesting. The way magic works as modern day electricity is pretty cool too.

It reminds me a lot of The Devil Is A Part Timer (which is always a good thing), mainly because both shows have a Hero and a Devil/Demon getting jobs and adjusting to their new lives together.

The only downside is all the ecchi stuff. Why so many good animes have to have that stuff I'll never know.
I can also sense a typical harem ending coming up and those are always exasperating.

Just finished I Couldn't Become A Hero So I Reluctantly Decided To Get A Job.
It was a great anime. I loved the characters and the humor was great. The setting was interesting and the way they used their magic was cool.

The ending was good, but it felt like it needed something. The MCs needed to become a couple. The OVA was great, a really cute episode that redeems the ending a bit. If only the show was longer. It's another case of that dumb 12 episode anime thing that's really common these days.

One punch man is on Netflix and after all the hype I'm tempted to watch it. It just looks so ridiculous and not something I would enjoy. I can like wacky anime like even bobobobo or whatever that was called but I don't know.

Thoughts on it?

I'm about 10 shows in, and Gonzo's Witchblade anime is chock-full of fanservice/ecchi elements, but also a surprising amount of heart.

I wish its protagonist would appear in the American Witchblade comic book in some capacity.

It's alright, not bad at all. The joke is definitely that it treats it's idea as just a big joke. It's innocent. Got caught up with the manga.

Anime with excessive fanservice is a waste of time. I don't mind a little of it, and it's honestly unavoidable because almost every popular anime has some sort of fanservice moment with it's female characters at some point or another, but I try to watch ones with as little as possible.

It's really weird how this is still so common though in the modern year. It's like the only reason some female characters exist in anime is for fap bait for otaku's. You never seen this in American cartoons with their female characters, even ones designed to look attractive. Go see Legend of Korra or all the DC/Marvel cartoons, or hell even the TMNT cartoons.

Not like it really matters much about ecchi, as it really isn't for us as it is more because of the declining birthrates in japan. It's ultimately the same thing as Gravure models...just meant to get you in the mood.

Though as I mentioned before, the amount of ecchi scenes of course depends on a person that watches it. I enjoy ecchi when it is really over the top because at that point it goes past a point and it is just hilarious, especially if they can make it absurd (point and case: Monster Musume) but ecchi shows that really only do the bare minimum just feels like it's trying to hard (or not hard enough?) and it really is off (ie. Yokai Girls)

But a good look through manga and anime and you can clearly tell that most aren't really ecchi, though as per the usual of popularity, it does create the illusion of prosperity. It's like when people say that "anime is only moe-sh!t" it really isn't true.

also, started reading two new manga (For me) today:

Devilman
Battle Angel Alita

It's great, just the right blend of humor & action with a wide variety of character designs. Don't watch the dub, stick with subs.

I've been watching Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends. I'm already on the second season, and I love it! It's such a great anime. All the characters are really unique, and I can really relate to a lot of them. The humor is hilarious, they really nailed it with this dub. The show really reminds me a lot of My Youth Romantic Comedy, but without the serious tones and with a lot more focus on humor. I HIGHLY recommend this anime, you should check it out!

Also, I got a good little light novel haul today:

The translations for My Youth are great! I waited a long time to get these and they were definitely worth the wait. I got SAO for free when I got the other ones, and I'm curious as to how to novel presents the action and story the anime adaptation had.

Edit:
It's 3:56 in the morning and I haven't slept at all. I've been watching Haganai. This show is so ****ing amazing I can't stop watching it. I have to wake up at 6 tomorrow. But I don't care. This show is so great I don't want to stop watching it. It's truly one of the greatest anime of all time. Sesom 2 is somehow even better than the 1st which was already fantastic. You guys need to check this show out. SERIOUSLY. You'll be glad you did. It just gets better with ever episode! Tw

Great!! You'll be glad you did!

I absolutely ADORE the art style. And the humor. And the story. And the characters. I just love this anime period.

Let me know what you think of it.

So I just finished Haganai.
I hate getting to the end, but all good things must end eventually, right?
All in all, this was one of the greatest anime I've ever seen. It was filled with such great humor, characters, and story/drama. By the end of the series all the characters felt really well developed. This wasn't your standard issue harem/ecchi anime, it was a cut above the rest, a real stand-out marvel. It's really similar to My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong As I Expected, but not just in their basic plots.

Spoiler:
Spoiler:
Spoiler:
Kodaka is similar to Hachiman in his character. Both are loners who suddenly find themselves getting close to a group of girls. They're both the way they are because they don't want to get hurt in any relationship they might be in, and they don't want others to get hurt because of them. After getting used to their current situations and being happy with the way things are, they're forced to make decisions that would disband their clubs and hurt everyone in the process. So they choose to back away from things which causes serious damage to everyone. They do want/realize they have to make a choice, but they don't want to lose the very things they've been searching for for a long time. The whole thing's really sad when you think about it.
Kodaka's still very unique though. He sees himself as worthless and doesn't understand why anyone would ever want to be with him. Throughout the series he played dumb and pretended he didn't understand the girls' feelings or what was going on, but he was just doing it all to protect the special bonds they all shared together. The reveal was really surprising and added a LOT of depth to his character.
As far as the ending goes, it's not really much of one. Just like My Youth Romantic Comedy. It ends without the story actually ending. But unlike My Youth, Haganai still has light novels that have yet to be adapted, leaving hope for a season 3. But with what I've heard about the light novel's ending its more unsatisfying than S2's. Nevertheless, I want S3 to happen. I need to see it all the way through. I feel incredibly bad for Yozora and hope things get better for her.
I'll be waiting for the story to continue. All the while trying to figure out the point of it all.

I recommend this anime to anyone and everyone.

Not really a anime show but movies, but has anyone seen the Barefoot gen series? They were made in the 70s I believe and are a series of anime films back then about the Hiroshima nuclear explosion. Pretty depressing but still very intruiging and the films have alot of heart so I highly recommend to anime/history fans who are looking for old and traditional stuff in the genre.

I just watched the first episode of one punch man and it was just as stupid as I thought it'd be. I hope it gets better but we'll see. I'll post an update once I finish the show.

Most anime is nonsense nowadays unless you like fanservice/harem/slice of life/random girls doing cute stuff nonsense.

I can't watch shows without any action in it. I need to see someone fighting, some sort of action scene, or guns blazing or I can't watch it.

that seems more like a personal problem. also with standards like that no wonder you feel that "Most anime is nonsense nowadays unless you like fanservice/harem/slice of life/random girls doing cute stuff nonsense."

Because usually most action shows have some sort of plot. It all eventually leads to something.

Slice of life shows are just...which girl winds ups with who. Fanservice scenes. Cute girls doing cute things. The same dull comedy/fanservice scenes that we've all seen a million times. By the time it ends you wonder why you even watched what you did, or what you got out of it.
