The first arc was wonderful and a joy to watch. It might've been downhill from there, but I've decided to stick with the franchise, no matter how bad it gets. My hope is that it'll recapture the magic of those episodes someday. It might not, but oh well. It doesn't get that bad, there's still something enjoyable to be found.

As I said, the 1st arc, the 1st 14 episodes are great. Real quality anime. The second arc is where it goes downhill. It reaches territory that it shouldn't have crossed. That being said, you shouldn't watch the second half with anyone else. It gets weird.
I still found some enjoyment from the 2nd arc, but yeah, that's where most people jumped ship.

This is my most hated scene from the entire show. It was completely unnecessary, and awkward to watch. Now you know why you should watch that arc alone. I watched it with my KID BROTHER. Since then I watch my anime alone.
While the scene brought some important character out of Kirito and Akihiko Kayaba, they could made it a different way that didn't involve that level of evil from the bad guy.

All in all, I definitely recommend this anime. It may have its faults, but overall it's really good. Give it a chance. At least the 1st 14 episodes. You'll be glad you did.

Definitely not my philosophy. As soon as I realise I stopped having fun watching something, I stop, no matter how much time I've invested in it and no matter how many episodes I have left.

That being said, I have a much higher tolerance for bad anime bs than a lot of other people because I watch nothing but dubs and you kind of have to have a high tolerance for those sometimes

Aw mann...

Don't get so spooked about it so easily dude, at least try it out if you get the chance. If you decide you like it, you can just watch the 1st 14 episodes and then you'd have watched the best the franchise has to offer. Trust me, it gets a lot more flak than it deserves. It's still got good qualities, but you just have to look past the first impressions.

Any Stand Alone Complex fans here? A new GitS series is being made, hopefully more along the lines of SAC than Arise.

EDIT: I'm gonna take the complete lack of response as a no.

Ranma is so long, I'm almost done, I've watached 120 episodes plus the two movies, I'm surprised by how fresh it kept as I only started to get tired of the show in the past 30 episodes or so, and even then there's good episodes still between the bad ones and some ore not bad they're just generic which in such an outlandish show they seem below average. Hopefully I can finish off this show soon.

I think I'll take a break from anime after I finish Ranma though, and take a break from long shows and keep it to ~50 episodes. But Ranma has been a hell of a ride so far, I'll be sad when I finish it.

Watching Future Diary. Not the best anime, but has quality enough to be enjoyed. It's funny too.

I started watching My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected. An instant favorite! I've seen the light novels around and wanted to check 'em out, put decided to just watch the anime first, like what I did with The Devil Is A Part-Timer. It's weird how much I can relate to this show. The main character Hikky is really similar to how I am; we think the same way about our lives and others, and we're both solitary people who live that way on purpose. The setting and supporting cast is great. There's just so much good about this anime that it's hard to believe it isn't really popular, and the fact it hasn't received an official English dub is weird. It might not be for everybody, but this anime has definitely struck a chord with me. and I know this'll be one I'll enjoy in the years to come.

Last night I binge watched the rest of My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong As I Expected until 3 AM. What a great show. Both seasons are wonderful, as well as the two OVAs. It's hard to explain just what makes this show so good. It just speaks to me in a way no other show has been able to. Anyone who has given up on people, life, or themselves can really relate to this show. The things the characters go through and the changes they experience are just fulfilling to watch play out.

As far as the ending is concerned,
Spoiler:
I'm kinda glad they didn't have Hikky pick between Yui or Yukino. While I'm for Yukino all the way, it would definitely hurt Yui if she got rejected and she doesn't deserve that. The same goes if he were to choose Yui. Any action would've hurt their interrelationships and ruined the club.

Many fans are impatiently awaiting a new novel or season. I'd love more as much as the next guy, but I can see why the creator hasn't actually released them yet. Whatever course of action he decides will leave a lot fans unsatisfied, and there's no way it could end perfectly for all the characters. I don't want to see these character drift away and I'm sure a lot fans feel the same way. So for the meantime I'm content with what we have. And whenever the day comes where thee characters worlds are finally shattered, I'll be there with this amazing franchise.

So looks like Saban will be doing another attempt at a precure dub. Seems to be DokiDoki...and it seems that 19 episodes will be cut.

because that's what people want, 40% of their content cut.

Starting watching my first harem anime. Ladies vs Butlers. I've never felt so ashamed in my entire life.

Yeah, I've always tried to avoid those kinds of shows but it couldn't be helped this time around. The premise of Ladies vs Butlers and the interesting characters made for a show I couldn't help but want to watch.

I could've done without the loads of fan service though. One character in particular looked like she was 5 but was actually 19. It got really uncomfortable when she was put into weirdly sexual situations. Not to mention the fact that a lot of the girl characters would just up and drop their clothes for whatever reasons. Man, I don't see how people can watch tons of harem anime, it's so weird.

Yeah, I hate that kind of stuff too. When they do stuff like that it just spreads the idea that underage nudity is ok and they provide people who are sick enough to be into that kind of stuff more fuel for their fire (to put it nicely).

Hence why I try to stay far away from harems. I'm no pervert and don't have any desire to see that kind of stuff.

what the hell, not-Japan?

but seriously, Me? I enjoy a good harem, my first one was Tenchi Muyo, or if you don't count that it would have been Rosario Vampire (first half i enjoyed, but it really lost the comedy in the second and I found myself just pushing forward.) Finding a good harem is not really that easy, as you need to find the right balance that fits you yourself as any number of ways can be considered too extreme for yourself. Personally, I find either Rosario Vampire or Sora no Otoshimono as good jump in points as I find a good balance between story and the harem comedy act.

personally, I really enjoy Abnormal-Kei Joshi, it's a harem filled with nothing but Yandere, but sadly only 15 chapters are translated.

also, either of y'all hear about that BBC reporter that interviewed Takeshi Nogami, designer for Girls and Panzer? I think both of you would enjoy that behind the scenes.

you are beginning to sound like those old parents that would claim that "slasher flicks makes everyone killers" that Scream satirized.

---

but getting onto topic of anime/manga.

Series I've gotten into

The Promised Neverland. I can't really tell you much because it's a mystery series, but trust me, it's good. especially for a shounen.

Tokusatsu Gagaga
-A series about a female office worker that is a tokusatsu otaku (obsessed with stuff along the line of superheros like Super Sentai) but because of how Japan's view on things, she has to hide her love and her collection. There are some really cute stuff as she compares everything to her precious toku in one way or another and even has this cute moment with a little girl when "not-Mcdonalds" was selling some toys. There is this thug looking mother-*ucker who is a Magical girl otaku.

Haven't you heard? I'm sakamoto
-Nuff said

Ousama game. A real bloody good time.

Musuko ga Kawaikute Shikataganai Mazoku no Hahaoya.
-A story of a single mother (and friends) trying to raise her child.

Yokai Shoujo
-The ecchi feels forced most of the time, but Hime's works for her. I am really curious on Nana's storyline and if she will ever return to her body. Was surprised to see that Icchan isn't sh!t

My first was also Tenchi Muyo I think that's some good advice though, everyone has different limits so it's going to be a lot easier for some people to run into deal-breakers in a series. My brother really enjoys harem anime because he can't take anything going on that seriously.

...Also I have a friend very into yandere I'm going to let her know about that

And no I didn't hear about the reporter, what happened

Ultimately it devolved into the lady saying that "japan is bad" when the guy was talking about stuff regarding things like "lolicon" as a way to "suppress the darkness in man's heart!" which I mean, if studies in videogames is something to go by, then it probably isn't far off.

She ultimately came down to saying that "why can't Japan be more civilized like the UK!" in which he replied, "Why can't the UK be more civilized like Japan, we having a lower crime rate."
