Don't "sales" also account for sales to comic shops and NOT individual people buying the book, or do I have that wrong?

I know that has always been a bit "fuzzy" whether it's comics or music albums or what have you. Like an album gets certified Gold or Platinum before it's even in a single person's hands because it sold X million copies to record stores, but that in and of itself is no promise that individual people are in turn going to walk into the store and buy it. It's just a way for the label to market the product better, and in turn sell even more.

Likewise, I was under the impression that it is not 1:1 with comic book "sales", and that the "official numbers" actually refer to how many copies went out to the retail distributors, not literally "This is how many people went to the store and bought a copy." THAT data has always been incredibly vague, and companies do not like to be fully-transparent about it for obvious reasons.

Anyways, anecdotally all I've ever seen/heard from retailers is that the book hasn't moved well post-100, that many of them cut down on how many they order and they rarely sell out of the ones they do. Once again, purely anecdotal. BUT, consistent.

He isn't, Pablo is just taking over art duties on the main series for the first time (hence 'new' artist) having done a few previous spells across some of the side series before (Dimension X, GBII and some of Universe for example), the actual new editor hasn't been confirmed yet. Tom has been promoted to GROUP editor so he now oversees most if not all of the series that IDW publish.

I think one of the bigger issues is just, outside of the big two themselves, the comic industry ain’t doing hot in general.

My smaller comic shop even stopped selling cause there wasn't enough demand. However they have brought in Last Ronin and that one is pretty much flying off the shelves. Now of course this is just one small shop in a small town and they have to be more selective on what they bring in, but if noone cares about IDW TMNT, then they're not bringing it.

Of course the larger comic store in town does carry it but I guess they afford to lose a few bucks.

man, a lot happened in this one. Well now we know sheena's last name, wonder if she has an uncle in Detroit?
That doctor could give dr. Queeze a run for his money, I can almost hear the guy that did dr weird voicing this guy.
And you guys wanted the turtles to suffer, well wish granted.
Really hate to wait a month for the next issue.

Good issue. Thought the Frogs were damn gutsy, if foolish, for just walking into the dojo like that, but it turns out they're vicious. Absolutely vicious. A real street gang. Don't know how much of a difference Raph would've made. The students, on the other hand...

I loved Alopex's stance during the face-off, crouching at the ready with her open palms on the floor. Gave me real Ninjara vibes. She could use more of that.

Speaking of vibes... Doc Barlow, yikes! I've never liked Sheena but I feel sorry for what is very clearly about to happen to her. Especially because she might never be the same again in the worst possible way. It's one thing to get punted off a stage by Bebop and Rocksteady, quite another to be turned into a textbook exemple of a body horror monstrosity.

On the plus side... Dirtbag and Groundchuck! Yesss! IDW TMNT is just missing Armaggon and Chien Khan for me now. Lord Dregg would be neat too, but not an absolute necessity.

Is Casey's new battle cry original, or has it been used before in some other iteration I'm not familiar with?

This issue juggles quite a few plotlines, including the very intriguing Burnow Island subplot, while avoiding the pitfalls of the previous twenty four issues. So much so that I can't help but wonder how much of it is Campbell, and how much of it is editorial mandate... All I know is I wish the rest of the run had been this consistently good and briskly paced.

Great issue with lots of new plot threads - I think it's possible that Dr. Barlow and/or Bonnie's disappearance may have something to do with the 'Franken-turtle' on the cover of the FCBD issue but we'll have to wait and see.

Also oddly no letters page this month but I guess that's because of the editorial transition that's happening.

Pretty much a certainty at this point. What puzzles me is how he knew, and had the resources to, duplicate Donnie's enhanced shell. I also wonder if the good ol' Doc won't be recruited by Ch'rell after his introductory arc to contribute with his expertise to the matter of Utrom reproduction. At any rate, the body horror is here to stay.

Correct. "Sales" are basically just what comic book companies have duped the stores into buying off the bat before getting into any returns whatsoever. And when you start getting into 2, 3, 4 alternate covers with dealer incentives ("you don't get Cover C unless you order 50 of this issue, but you can send back the ones you didn't sell later on anyway just shhhh about it" etc.), that initial number gets compounded and falsely bloated.

Not gonna spoil anything but the pics on Sophie's patreon indicate that 'franken's' shell is nothing like Donnie's.

Oh. I was just going off what that one Frog who saw their friend get kidnapped said, but he(?) did seem a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

But okay yeah wow, that was a lot of occurrences packed into one issue. The doctor looks creepy AF.

I never saw whatever the Punk Frog's original debut was. Were they antagonists to the Turtles? Or did they become allies eventually? In any case it doesn't look like they'll end up allies here.

Hope the rest of this arc is at least as good as this issue was

While punk frogs works as a “rival gang” to the TMNT, I always imagined a rival gang would be an assortment of different animals like the Chinese five venom’s animals or the B-Crushers. You know, an assortment of animals but with overlaying theme.

That's consistent with what I've always heard, thanks.

Their original debut was the '87 series where they were mutated and tricked by Shredder before the Turtles helped them see the truth and became allies for their other appearances.

Kinda digging how much happened in this issue. Like 2-3 issue's worth of progress in one. Even as someone who likes (for the most part) this run anyway, it's a treat.

Did not expect the name of the newborn Triceraton to be such a callback. That was nice.

I would love it if Dr. Barlow, as creepy and messed up as he and his operation seems, just turns out to be well-meaning but with misplaced motivations or just not having the right skillset/resources to do what he wants to properly. I mean it's unlikely, but I like the idea of shady and fugly types not exactly being the "bad guy".

Art isn't great (at least for the main ongoing), that I hope this artist is only around for a few issues and they change again.

Funny how it wasn't Hob or anything else that happened in mutant town that burned down their dojo...but a random group of Punk Frogs they met literally for less than 5 minutes. I don't see what the point of Casey talking about Jennika was, they had long since broken up and that doesn't even make sense. Their entire relationship was off-screen too so it barely existed.

Did Carmen imply she was in a relationship with Sheena too or am I just reading into things? I wouldn't be surprised if Carmen is a lesbian as well.
