TMNT 128 discussion

Haven't seen anyone create a thread for issue 128, So feel free to discuss this issue here.

So far I thought this issue was pretty good, The previous issue we saw Seri as a baby triceraton, and we see her as an an adult due to some machine that accelerated her aging to an adult.

Sophie Campbell posted this concept art she drew of Seri from last year.

Seri is kind of cute, I read that in the original comics, She was Mikey's love interest, So I'm curious to see how that plays out when she meets the Turtles for the first time.

If by original comics, you mean the Mirage continuity, she is from that. Though I usually tend to think of "the original comics" as being more the canon parts of V1, Tales, the Micros and maybe V2. Seri is from V4, you know, the one where April was revealed to be a magic drawing. If the series is pulling from that now, well, people who hated that twist may have reason to worry now.

Anyway, there are already some obvious differences, her being a Triceraton rather than a Protoceraton is the most obvious one. That and the old Seri might not have been a true love interest and more of a manipulator.

Hmmm this is where we get into that weird character age slant where it's like 'technically she's like 2 it's aight since some comic book mumbo jumbo actually made her 22'.

I wonder why comics and other works of fiction like to do that sorta thing.

Seeing Venus dismembered with no arms and legs is creepy. I'm surprised they were allowed to show that. It's like torture porn.

Pretending to be something one isn't based on a technicality? What kind of sick, twisted mind would be into that?

Like a serial killer thug slicing a baby's ear off with a chainsaw? What kind of sick, twisted mind would be into that?

I think it would have been creepier if we saw muscle tissue instead of blue nightlights, just saying.

I mean outside of losing some cognitive process she at this moment is no different from (what I assume) others her age. I mean we ain’t talking about “I may look 7 but I’m actually 30 and a mother of 2”

I should also point out that this character is mostly known for having had sex with Mike... So, make of that what you will with her being instantly aged to maturity...

Naw, torture porn woulda been seeing the poor thing thrashing in pain as this stuff woulda been done to her while awake. For some sick reason a lot of the real rotten bad guys like to go all 'put them under and use anesthesia? What for?' when performing all these acts.

So is this the first issue of Armageddon Game or does it start next issue? This might be my hopping back on point.

Yeah, according to this page.
https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/character/2567/seri
Quote:
Seri came to Earth on US soil to learn about Earth. While Michelangelo was supposed to be her tour guide, he does something very reckless; he convinces Seri to sneak away from her bodyguards so that he could take her on a tour of the northwest coast of the U.S. Michelangelo and Seri spend most of their time together, eating fast food and swimming. During a visit to the coast of Maine, Seri became fascinated by the lobster-fishing boats, and swam down to catch some herself, but was caught in one of the boat's fishing nets. Michelangelo saved Seri and revived her using CPR. Seri found the mouth contact very intimate, and was so enamored she invited Michelangelo into mating with her.
Basically she got horny and wanted to have sex with Mikey.

Mikey also got her pregnant and had babies too.

I expect a lot of DeviantArt for this ship sometime soon.

Well that's the consensus, ain't it? For fun I have been constructing a plan for a possible TMNT show that adapts as many issues published by Mirage as possible. The exemptions I've made are the guest issues, Tales issues taking place after volume 4 (though not necessarily the ones taking place during it) and volume 4 itself. The first two exemptions are fairly obvious, they occupy ambiguous canon. Volume 4 is obviously canon but remains unfinished (meaning I would have to make up an ending either from scratch or use a questionably canon story as the ending) and the story would take a weird turn as it did with the comic itself (i.e. April as a magic drawing, Don becoming action figure size, Raph becoming a T-Rex, Mike impregnating an alien, etc.). On one hand, it would easily beat the FW show out in pure episode count (I've managed to get an estimate of 168 episodes with the exclusions so far) but on the other hand, including these issues in the adaptation might make for a shark jump situation and that should be avoided.

I find it funny how Mikey always gets away from these odd things.

In Image, Raph loses half his face, Leo loses a hand, Don is a Cyborg, Mikey stays the same

In Mirage Raph becomes a vampire monster, Don is an action figure, Leo and Mikey pretty much stay the same.

Armageddon Game begins with the two-part 'Opening Moves' mini and then with issue #131. The current arc ends with #130 and this year's Annual and FCBD issue are in between them.

Don't forget how the 2012 show ends with Don becoming a robot and Leo becoming a combination of the Hulk and that guy from Mad Max 2.

But yeah, you're right. Even in Last Ronin, Mike remains more or less the same aside from further mutations making him a bit bulkier. I guess losing an arm in SAIN is getting a bit extreme but that would be the exception.

I guess the reason he's not the the one they mess around with as much is because he's the "fun loving one with optimism", maybe it's a little too hard to work mutilation or horrible transformations into that?

Yep.

I'm rather Mirage-agnostic in the first place but there's things I liked about the earlier volumes. There was pretty much nothing I liked at all about Vol. 4, nothing I'd ever want to see adapted into other continuity or canon, certainly. I liked Tales Vol. 2 MUCH better... except the stuff that tied into Vol. 4.

Respect for Laird "getting to tell His Story, His Way"... but it sucked and was not entertaining. Which is sad. "Peter Laird's Unfiltered Vision For TMNT" sounded so promising.

Unfortunately, he'd become a Boring Old Guy by then and seemed way more excited about his new Segway than he did writing more TMNT stories.

Too bad.

Teenage Mutant Segway Turtles could be a thing. Just sayin'.
