Do we blame it on them not bringing back Justin Royland or piss poor writing?

Hard to tell. If it is true that Roiland didn't do anything beyond voice work after season 2 (which I somewhat doubt is true), then it's really just the writing that has deteriorated, which isn't too much of a stretch considering the Sperm, Hellraiser, Voltron, Beth-cest, Piss, Sun Knights and Lightsaber episodes are just signs of declining writing before his departure. However, much of the Roiland's signature ideas seem less prevalent here, so his absence is somewhat noticed.

I think much is what was said about Roiland (thanks for the spell check lol) by the co-creater Dan Harmon, to me seems to be some bitterness over all of the allegations made against Roiland leading to his dismissal from the show. Almost as if Dan figured, hell I’ll add more fuel to the fire because I’m mad he left me high and dry by getting fired, so I’ll make it like I did all the work and he “phoned it in”

To each their own I guess! I thought the spaghetti-suicide episode felt too much like a philosophy course debate but I've been laughing a lot this season. The President was a *little* too... something; I'm not sure what. Immature? Played for comic relief? Like yes he has been funny in his previous appearances but the need for acceptance was a bit overdone. I did like the dynamic between Rick, Unity, and Dr. Wong though.

I really enjoyed the past three episodes and the episode coming debuting this weekend looks funny to me with how low the stakes are (listening to headphones in class??? For shame, Morty!!! LOL )

I think you're right, but there's every indication to indicate that Roiland did phone it all in in the last years. And it's not like Roiland is refuting any of this.

And what about Rick killing his alternate self, Rocks revealing shameful secrets and Morty being turned into Kuato?

I've been a fan of Rick and Morty for a while now! It's totally off-the-wall funny. Can't wait for those new episodes to drop.

Well, we have some idea of the "floor." The show has 10 episode seasons, right? It was renewed for 70 episodes what, 3 seasons ago? And season 7 is currently wrapping up? That accounts for 30 of the 70 episodes ordered -- so at least 4 more seasons are guaranteed, at this point.

the new voices are very good imitators but you can tell it's not them because of subtle differences which actually made the characters special.

In general the show hasn't been as good as the first two seasons. After that it's had its ups and downs. S3 was a downgrade and S4/5 were likely the worst so far and 6/7 are an improvement. Quality just hasn't been the same as the first two seasons though.

It was the best episode in the season, those who had a problem with it should just go ahead and unalive themselves

I mean, you're not wrong. Season 3 wasn't terrible and there's been gems along the way but nothing consistently like the quality of season 1 and 2.

Finally saw the first 3 or 4 episodes of the new season (was waiting for daughter to come around, didn't feel right without her). Wow... not bad! The one where Rick and Jerry pseudo-swapped brains and merged bodies was pretty brilliant. As was the episode about "Morty's Suicide Spagetti." This is pretty much gold. Way better than the last couple of seasons... so far!

Was interesting the episode “Morty's Suicide Spagetti“ and how it touched on suicide and then doing a PSA at the end. Some people of said it was very controversial
