Looks pretty cool. Definitely great visuals.
Let's just hope that all of that isn't a bait-and-switch. All of that stuff could be from the first episode and the rumors of He-Man having only a minimal presence in the show could still be true. Definitely LOOKS great, though.

That reminds me: I can't stand that now thanks to that f*cking show, whenever I look for She-Ra nudes I'm inundated with fan-art pictures of "Adolescent Boy-looking She-Ra"... often with male "equipment", to boot.
![]() I know, I'm exactly the kind of person they were going out of their way to piss off by 1. Doing that show in the first place, and 2. Insisting that Adora look like a 12-year old boy rather than, y'know, a chick. I don't care. "Classic Coke" She-Ra was historically super-hot, and lots of people jack it to cartoons, there's no shame in it (or shouldn't be). It's not her business to either guilt/shame those people OR go out of her way to make life more difficult for them. I don't care how many people claim to like it, that show was every bit as much a gigantic troll-job as it was a "push for inclusion and diversity". Nothing with so much spite behind it can ever claim to be pure-intentioned. While I'm ranting about this kinda sh*t, I'd also like to give a hearty "F*ck You" to Nickelodeon, since thanks to the 2012 cartoon I can't do an April O'Neil search without feeling like I'm gonna end up on a government watch list. These people don't eliminate porn of their characters by making them underage; they just make the porn people create WAY more questionable. Great job, nitwits. Maybe DON'T do that kinda sh*t.

Honestly, since showrunners do write certain episodes, it would be amusing, at least as it pertains to those concerned about how much focus Adam gets here, if Smith writes the one episode that is truest to the traditional conventions of a Masters story, He-Man as the lead etc, and all his other writers are tasked with fleshing out Teela's journey.

The trailer was good, and I really hope the show itself is good. But the plot leaks are not encouraging... who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and a lot of it will have been BS. That's the hope.

Looks pretty good, which unusual for a modern Western animation.
Also, I am amused how they make goofy 80s monsters look somewhat scary and cool.

Just because a female is the lead doesn't mean something is 'woke', nor does it mean 'woke' can't ever be done right. I grew up in the 90s, where 'wokeness' was very much in vouge then too I'll eat a s*itload of crow feet if I'm wrong, so apologies in advance for the He-Man.org-esque naïve shilling, but the show isn't necessarily broken with the sidelining of He-Man or Teela having a journey. |

Why is netflix calling this an "anime" when it's a western produced cartoon? Sure the human designs look a little anime-ish but it's still a western show. I'm real tired of netflix calling all the animation they make "anime" even if it isn't. They did this with the Castlevania cartoon as well.

And so either way it's an awkward change to an existing continuity but when you combine it with the current Hollywoke trends, it's really seems like a signal. We live in clown world man. There are people even on these forums that would ignore the content of my post and simply see that I used the word "transvestite" and start flinging hater labels. That's how far gone we are. So the solution is simple. If you don't care about any of this, then click on Netflix and power watch it. If you don't mind the "inclusion" but it's left you feeling that the "traditional" has been minimized or that your fandom has been appropriated or invaded with animosity towards you, then don't give Netflix the dollar generating clicks. And lastly if you are on the fence, then resist your childish addictions for your toys and cartoons until the word is out on what the show is about and decide whether or not to give the dollar-generating Netflix hits at that time. Personally, I'm on the fence. There's nothing wrong with including all groups into society's pop culture. But I'm tired of the vitriol that comes with the push as well as the virtue signaling. But I'm mostly disgusted that these people have to take from, minimize or vilify anything traditional to do this, which tells me that these people are $#!(bags and that "hate" is alive and well but now just being hidden by a false virtue of support for any given demographic. So I'm on the fence. Last edited by IMJ; 06-11-2021 at 09:53 AM. |

Like I don't mind it too much as long as the show is called 'The Legend of Teela" or whatever, but don't call it He-Man and sideline him after episode 2, and I'm assuming the final episode maybe?

This would be like a TMNT revival cartoon but the turtles are sidelined by April and Jennika. Like you'll see enough Turtle Power for the trailers but then Krang somehow banishes the OG 4 to the dimension X after episode 1 aaaaaaand now it's the April and Jennika show. All season.

I found one where Ben10 needed a new job and his agent was like 'I actually found you a new gig" and he's like "what's the blonde wig for?" The next panel is a shot of the new She-Ra. I have noticed a resurgence of classic April lately. Now that NickApril is forgotten and Rise April's show is over, people are going back to classic April. Or so I have been told. I personally hate that sort of animated filth.

They haven't. He-Man isn't anywhere in the title. It's Masters of the Universe: Revelation
Say what you like about what kind of show this may end up becoming, I don't doubt your concerns, but Mattel aren't falsely advertising anything here. |

It's still supposed to be related to the old show though, I'm thinking it might just be that all characters will get more focus but the story just starts off with her maybe? (thinking of the description they gave a while back)

I personally think this is going to be more about teel'as journey to becoming sorceeress and learning her secret.
it WAS one of the few plotlines left in the old show needing conclusion, so it makes sense. I just hope it's good.

The incredible cast of characters is part of what makes MOTU so awesome, so believe me, I have no problem with the basic idea of others getting some shine. But you damn well better believe I predominantly want it to focus on He-Man. I felt the 200X cartoon did a rather good job giving both the heroes and villains of the supporting cast a lot more to do, but even then sometimes it felt like He-Man got pushed back in a few episodes to the point of just being the third-act Deus Ex Machina. Not egregiously so, but there were a couple of episodes where it was like that. If this series only gets ten episodes - and right now we have no reason to believe that it will get any more than that - and He-Man is sidelined for most of it, then yeah, I'll be very aggravated even if the rest is technically well-done. I mean, I get it. And I've been through it before. I LOVED "Twin Peaks: The Return", I think it's absolutely brilliant and there's very, very, VERY little about it I would change if I could. But after years and years and YEARS in-between the ending of the original and the Return season, was it abso-f*cking-lutely maddening to only get two episodes of Dale Cooper at the very end of the show (and to AGAIN end it on a giant cliffhanger)? Yes it was. Even though I love every single f*cking thing with Mr. C and Dougie Jones and all that stuff, I was boiling over a few times waiting for Dale to snap out of it. When he finally did, oh man, it was incredible and perfect and all that sh*t. But still... you can't help but feel like "That's IT? Seriously? He's the main character!" I got through it, loved the show, I'm at peace, very little I'd change. But selfishly, it's never gonna completely sit well with me for that one creative choice. And that's what I'm afraid they're gonna do with this show. I didn't spend 20 years hoping they'd somehow bring MOTU back only for He-Man to barely be in it. That's like asking for a 6-foot Birthday cake all year, finally getting it, and finding out that it's full of coconut. "Way to give me what I asked for, in the most backhanded way possible!" But eh, we'll see. Peoples' fears are natural but there IS still a chance that they might be unfounded, and/or that even if there's less He-Man in it that the show still might be good-to-great overall. "Twin Peaks: The Revival" is always gonna be my go-to for how a thing can be absolutely nothing like what I asked for or expected or to a point even wanted but somehow still be incredible. It happens. Smith is no David Lynch, but hey, sometimes the sun even shines on a dog's ass. One thing that's strikes me from going on the He-Man forums is how there's a lot more people than I thought who barely care about He-Man despite being huge fans of the franchise as a whole. Like I like "everyone" too but I've always gravitated more towards the main characters in this kinda stuff, and growing up I thought everyone did. It's very strange to me to see people say things like "I don't care, I love MOTU but I barely care about He-Man anyway." ![]() One thing I definitely won't complain about is if they finally have Teela ascend into becoming the Sorceress. I don't see how they WON'T do that, and that's fine with me if they do. It definitely would be nice to see that bit of canon actually play out in a cartoon, given how it's been foreshadowed and preordained every single time out but we've only "seen" it come to pass in the DC Comics and the Classics Bio cards.

That trailer is really well made, I think it'll definitely appeal to the original fans, unsure if new fans will be able to get into it, He-Man is just He-Man. A bit difficult to reimagine for other generations. I do like how the show seems influenced by anime which most kids who grew up with 80s cartoons seem to hate yet like this version
![]() I still don't see how this can be a sequel to the goofy 80s show when it's clearly going for a more serious take on the franchise. |

Pretty sure it's only going to be a "spiritual" sequel, at best. The whole "It's a direct continuation" thing reeks of fan-baiting.
Plus, Kevin Smith just plain lies a ton. Like how more recently he's been swearing how he's a huge fan of the property, and in turn other people are digging up old interviews here he explicitly states he never watched it or cared about it back in the day because he was already too old for it by the time it came out. "Whoops". Between MOTU and TMNT, it seems like there's an abundance of guys named Kevin who will say absolutely f*cking anything to get fans excited about whatever their latest project is, even if it's a boldfaced f*cking lie. ![]()
