Your progress on the Retro-Mutation attack has been nothing short of spectacular, dcat!
I've seen that you've already created custom mutation sprites for both Wingnut and Rat King of the SNES Tournament Fighters. Are you planning on adding some customs sprites for the Genesis Tournament Fighters roster as well (Ray Fillet, Sisyphus, etc.)?

Yes, I plan to have some custom mutation sprites for all of the TMNT characters. So far I've got Rat King, Wingnut, Mousers, Tokka, Rahzar. Ninja Turtles that weren't created by me will have a generic turtle sprite: . There's still quite a few customs to do. Some new anims: I plan to use this one for when the turtles defeat Shredder and free April. |

Beautiful job on her hair! I was curious as to what you were going to do with April in the Win/Lose animations.

Awesome work as always. Fun to see a stray idea actually get turned into something.
What's the long term goal on these, a full TMNT Mugen game I suppose?

It's pretty fun fleshing out a full repertoire of moves and animations from a limited sprite base, so that's most of the motivation that along with the pioneer aspect of converting characters for the engine that haven't been made before.
I don't do the whole full game deal. That's something that seems pretty popular with other creators though. I'll just keep making TMNT mugen characters until I get bored or become otherwise occupied. |

Are Casey Jones, Bebop, and Rocksteady at the top of your long-term to-do list?

Yeah I've already covered a lot of that, Halfshell.
UPDATE - 10/10/2012 ==================== -Consolidated TMNT I ARCADE : APRIL'S APARTMENT Intro (Statedef 199) into a single state; deleted unnecessary helper state -Added April O'Neil to the follow-up intro portion. Spoiler:
-The first bit of this intro is now all Left screen bound explods. I'm trying my best to have it display neatly regardless of resolution. PauseBG at the start stops any z.offset link stage motions that may disrupt the effect. -I've added a bunch of what was missing from the Intro initially, even recreated April's panic fueled jitter pose from the game. The smoke explods will be layered ontop of and beneath Shredder so the top layer animation will have a flickering effect as Shredder leaps through it. -After the splash screen is displayed I've got some black letter-boxing transitions that lead to the next state where a tied April lobs a randomized plea at Shredder before the turtle opponent enters and she's hoisted up as the round begins. April remains offscreen (invisible) until the match is over. |

I always liked that animation bit from the TMNT Arcade intro, but for whatever reason, in the original game, April's non-winking blue eye looked weird and creepy!
I'm glad you fixed it in your edit. I think your version has more overall image consistency.

Another Shredder idea...how about an entrance based on him leaning on the counter of April's store in Mirage issue 10? Then again you might end up with some disembodied counter. Maybe an idea if you do a stage based on the store.

I've been adding a ton of new things to Shredder and I've made an extended combo video demonstration to boot! The video showcases just about everything he's got at the moment as far as gameplay goes. Here's a little breakdown of the major changes: -Finally nailed down the command normals kicks system. Certain kicks will trigger based on directional input or combo progression. -Added a running side kick for Wall Bounce combos -Jumping attacks now have variation depending on enemy distance or successive button presses. Shredder will have restricted air normals like with Krang to prevent unfair chains. -the OTG Sword Super has been revamped completely it now deals 5 hits instead of the single delayed hit. Removed the BG PalFx that went along with it as well. The way I've got it set up now looks and feels way more stylish, just need to add the superBG and polish. -The EX PROJECTILES are nearly finalized. I've re-mapped them to standard EX Commands: QCF + Any 2 Punches. Ground version is still the energy spire while Middle and Anti-Air versions will be the same capture type only I've made the move inflict 9 rapid hits plus the finisher ground pound. I still need to have it so that the player cannot control Shredder before the move is over for mid and anti-air versions. - RETROMUTAGEN RAY can now transform both opponents if used in Simultaneous Mode. |

It's this sort of shrunken cursed Shredder sprite that I made using some resources from the Mighty Final Fight for the NES.

Very cool, it's obvious you've put A LOT of time into these projects.
Keep the updates coming, this whole development process is very intriguing. |

Hey, I was wondering what art inspired that Shredder pic! The canister of mutagen was throwing me off.
Good to know Cereal:Geek is still getting some love. Issue #10 will feature a detailed look at the Japanese TMNT anime & manga, so it is much anticipated.
