4kids would fit better with The Batman. Closer is tone, and both were animated by Dong Woo.

By that logic, shouldn't the Nick Turtles crossover with Brave and the Bold or Beware?

Personally I think Brave and the bold would be a better crossover for Nick TMNT

But TAS makes enough sense. The Nick show isn't all Mirage, all the time; but when it wants to I think it captures the style and heart of the comics much more effectively than 4kids ever did. Despite their heavy borrowing of specific plots. Last edited by ToTheNines; 11-11-2016 at 01:40 PM. |

Makes me wonder if we're going to get an 80's TMNT and Adam West Batman crossover next. Given how heavily DC is promoting 60's Batman with a new comic series and DVD movies, it could be possible.

Batman'66 would not mesh with TMNTA imho. Maybe Nick or NM. I believe this issue oroves either the '03 cartoon or TMNTA would work with B:TAS and yes the first 3 seasons.

I know the sales numbers haven't been made available yet so there's no telling how well it will do but judging by the success of the previous crossover, I'm sure it will do well. That being said, I wonder if Amazing Adventures would've fared better if the art and coloring was more nicely done like this series.

first thing as i opened up the issue, i was like W@@W!!! even if we just get the occasional mini-series or one-shot drawn by Jon Sommariva i'd be happy.

Over 40 issues for a Nick TMNT comic series isn't bad at all, hell it lasted almost as long as Volume 1 did and outlasted the Image comics and Volume 4. |

Director's Cut
I picked up the Director's Cut of the first issue this week. It's a very well done 48-page book for the surprisingly reasonable price of $4.99. It's nice to see Sommariva's pencils and how how he was so intentional doing his layouts with black shadows in mind.
The storyteller notes are also very informative, as they make all the homages, easter eggs, and unused ideas explicit. Manning's 3-page personal note at the end is also a great testament to his longtime fandom of both franchises. I appreciate it when folks who grew up as fans get to work on the official stuff. (Also, see his blog post.) I recommend picking it up if you like this series enough to see more behind-the-scenes material.

Seeing it on the shelf surprised me too. I hadn't paid it much attention in the solicitations. And I'm glad it's a full dollar cheaper than the #1 Director's Cut of the previous Batman/TMNT crossover.
