So Leo and Karai are training in Japan but back in New York City, the invasion is still ongoing.

And seven days is enough time to forget about the lost art of keeping a secret.

So Leo and Karai with their revised looks are experiencing life as normal every day people but trouble is on the horizon.

Raphael has unknowingly given away what Leo had pressed upon should have remained a secret and with time going much faster in Dimension X, the Kraang had all the time in the world to get an assassin on Leo and Karai's case. But this assassin isn't who he appears to be...

So Leo and Karai have an assassin on their heels, how's the rest of the Hamato clan fairing back in New York City?


Shinigami is using some very foul Japanese language here. She says "Fuzakeru na" which basically means "Are you F*(K!N@ kidding me?!"

I'm a big fan of the Japanese humor show "Gaki no tsukai" and one of the hosts of that show, Masatoshi Hamada says that all of the time.

Raph and June were caught directly in the blast, here's how he survived.



They say that when you're working with fire such as blowing fire and other pyrotechnics, that you only have ten seconds before the flames begin to cause burns on your skin. Raph needed far less time to escape and duck into that storm drain. I loved doing this page, depicting the split second decisions Raph is known for making.

The scene of Raph is a direct tribute to that famous scene of X-men the "Dark Phoenix saga" after Wolverine was defeated by Harry Leland of the Hellfire club who at first crushed him by increasing his weight to several tons which then send him through the floor of the building into the sewer.

Wolvie emerges and growls the same thing Raph says here.

Life is all about choices: Mikey just saw the Chris Bradford clone perform a feat of heroism, does he choose to take the risk and leave Casey in Bradford's care?

And the Bradford clone has a choice of his own: is he a Hero or not?

1. Amazing art of Raphael in colour, great level of detail there.

2. Funny that Vernon is here now, has he travelled over from the 1987 Dimension or is he a new version?

3. I do like how the clones are intelligent enough to come up with strategies, like informing the others of Leo's location and causing a public gathering in order to restrict the turtles' travel options.

4. I wonder who the assassin on Leo and Karai's trail could be? Looks like Baxter behind that Shredder armour.

5. Casey looks particularly badly affected by the blast. He is only a human after all, so he would take the explosion much worse than a Mutant turtle.

6. Are Donnie and April being sucked into Dimension X in that last last panel?

I worked closely with the original Wolverine panel as an example but did my own twists to it. It all fits in with the 2012 series knack of putting in Easter eggs.

It was my intention of him being the 2012 version of Vernon while also referencing the Bay movies version of Vernon by him using "the Falcon" nickname.

Why do you think the Bradford clone was there? He was their lightning rod.

The Kraang have Baxter Stockman on their side, he knows Shredder's old lair inside and out. He would have given the Kraang a detailed map on the outlay of Shredder's old HQ.

Also the Kraang as is seen from episodes like "It came from the sewers" give information to other Kraang ("Kraang must tell Kraang about those who are called the Turtles.")

You will meet him in the next chapter, the only spoiler I shall give is that those slits in his mask around his nose are there for a reason.

Having a wall fall on top of you DOES hurt, certainly when one doesn't have the protective shield which is a Turtle shell.

All the turtles have made it out alive and with June and her army of Cockroaches providing cover, everybody goes in a different direction to lick their wounds.

Meanwhile in Tokyo, trouble is also stirring with Leo and Karai but nothing is as it appears.


So a new chapter begins and the story arc will be called "Divided we stand"

This is my tribute to Sophie Campbell's awesome artwork for "City at war part 2" of the IDW series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But different from Campbell's original artwork, I made them look like the 2012 characters with Mikey wielding his kurusigama rather than the Nunchucks Campbell depicted him with.

Since Leo doesn't wear a mask anymore I decided to give him blue wrist bands instead.

So Leonardo has stabbed Karai, what was going on, has the mutation warped his mind?

Well, I have been suffering with a case of the writer's block when it comes to my TMNT comic and all of a sudden I had it.

In the episode "the Forgotten swordsman" Karai's old sensei, Tatsu turned up to take over the Foot clan. But what if Tatsu had more students and what if Karai got in touch with them to keep an eye on procedures in Japan while she remained in New York?

And so I present to you the Mitsumo No Shimai or Triplet sisters: Minami, Konami and Tsunami.


They will appear in the upcoming pages where their deal with be fully explained.

The Tanaka Triplets have a history with Karai, a history that the Kraang are not aware of, which shows yet another difference the Karai clones have with the real one: They don't speak Japanese.

In many Japanese shows and anime, there are moments where the cast are heard speaking English but doing so phonetically and often pronouncing words with a loud "Uh" or "Oh" sound. In Internet jargon this is known as "Engrish" as the L and the R are interchangeable in Japanese.

Time for Kuro to lay down the law on the Tanaka sisters but they have an Ace in the hole: a third sister!

Now if you find yourself in Japan and people refer you to as "Kuso Gaijin" you can bet your "Ketsu" that you REALLY pissed them off!

"The forgotten swordsman" is by far one of the greatest episodes of the 2012 series, if only because of it revealing so much of Karai's past in Japan.

Toshiro is Karai's sensei from the IDW comic book series of TMNT, he is the polar opposite of Tatsu and I could see the two of them clashing over Karai's training.

Leo gives Toshiro the lowdown on what happened when Master Splinter settled in New York but he leaves out a key part of the story, something that Tsunami picks up upon immediately.

It was fun depicting the guys as humans. I had Flea of the Red Hot Chili peppers in mind when coming up with human Raph.

After ten pages of not having drawn a single turtle it was time to break the status quo.
