Is there any news about Playmates rereleasing the classic line?

Everyone knows those 6 action figures. Those are the 6 action figures you use to introduce your children to TMNT ? reissues of the first ever TMNT figures. Those 6 figures are not necessarily timeless (we have Bandai and Toy Biz to thank for that), but they hold up better than the other figures from the first basic wave of the original Playmates toy line. Obviously, no one wears jumpsuits anymore or Mohawks, the color purple, or black tanktops, so the others are excluded. I have noticed that the reissues seem to be getting worse as the 21st century goes on, but those 6 figures are still great for what they are. The 6 figures certainly have their place in history (they were most popular in the very early 1990s).

The other characters are seriously dated by today?s standards. While it is true that Playmates brought back those side characters in 2009 and 2015, they never sold as well as the turtles and Shredder.

Basically, the top selling figures from the first basic wave of the original Playmates toy line were the four turtles and Shredder. Playmates threw in Splinter to round out the SDCC set.
