And since this is an April thread... Seems it - or more accurately, "don't write what you don't know" - also applies to female characters specifically. Blank stares (though I guess that can be attributed to Fox as coming naturally), just smiling and looking clueless when Mikey is making uncomfortable comments, other things this particular film is less guilty of but others are from the same makers... Hallow shell female characters? Know little about women.

Wasn't the movie already kind of an April movie?
What would April O'Neil the movie even be based on? That one time she discovered that she was a magic drawing or Nickelodeon's revision of her as an alien psychic? Pretty much anything remerkable done with April has been met with hostility, people seem to prefer her when the remarkable things happen around as opposed to it happening to her.
Even if it was a good idea, would you really want Platinum Dunes to make it?

Maybe in ten years or so when there is source material to work from that isn't boring or unpopular, and when another production company has the rights to make TMNT movies.

A guy who looks like Shrek (literally!) and isn't either a multi-gabazillionaire or famous rappa hits on a pretty girl.... what else does he expect?

*cough* Anyway. We probably shouldn't give the film makers ideas, goodness knows they only know how to relate to their human characters; a 120 min (because you know they'd give her a longer film than the Turtles) backstory on April would be so easy for them to make.
