"new" Playmates Shredder's Revenge figures from LRG
Limited Run Games is at it again, re-(re)-releasing Shredder's Revenge and including some exclusive Playmates figures with the collector's edition. I can't remember if it was the base game or the special edition that came with a Toon-like Shredder, but they've done this before and I believe the figure was a bit fugly when it was released. Still... all four figures with repaints to match the game is kind of tempting. The Shredder bundle was $125 if I recall correctly and this one is $125 with all four brothers.
Any suckers, I mean takers? Honestly... I'm considering it. https://limitedrungames.com/collecti...ion-switch-ps5 |

I have the original release and so far haven't bought any DLC or the deluxe edition in any form. Saw this this morning and ordered it. If the figures are $15 each and the 3 CD soundtrack is $30 and the rest including the game make up the other $35 it's not a bad package. So I said, what the hell!

While I'd have liked to add the Shredder from the prior Collector's Edition release to my collection, that package was just too pricey for what it was. All I was interested (besides the expanded game content) in there was the one figure, so it was an easy pass. This one, they got me.

I never got the first collectors edition, so might just try for this one

I still haven't taken my original LRG copy out of the shrink wrap.

I wasn't even able to get mine to work. Not sure if Pizza Hut's site is borked or if it was just something wrong on that day specifically, but no matter how many times I tweaked my order, it still wanted to charge me full price for the personal pizza. Maybe I'll try again in the future. I have until November, at least.
As for these figures... eh, while it's neat to have these figures re-painted in this way, I dunno if it's worth it for me (or at the very least I should say that I can't really afford to dump that much money on something like this at this time). I do wanna see about getting this physical "Ultimate" edition, even though I already bought the previous one without thinking there'd be anymore DLC. Mostly for the sake of preservation.

I gut this one, couldn’t resist. Just going to leave it MIB. Might see down the road, picking up the figures separate

Yyyyyep, just ordered it, along with 2x Castlevania on the Switch and Rain World. $270. Kinda hate myself honestly, as I genuinely don't feel that LRG deserves my money. But I want all these games (and those figures!) and don't want to risk secondary market prices. Yep, I'm part of the problem. To add salt to the wound, the first Shredder's Revenge from them came with a 5% off coupon. There's no expiration date listed. It wouldn't let me use it because it was "expired". Very classic anti-consumer LRG move there.
I'm waiting for these things to show up and the figures are mini-mutant sized. |

I do expect them to be just simple repaints and nothing more, nothing less, but the Shredder CE was the same price as this one and didn't come with anything else to necessitate that high price. Honestly the price is what's making me the most leery here, as LRG is not known for giving a lot of bang for your buck. Most of their expensive collector and limited editions are filled with paper, cardboard, and acrylic. Think double-sided poster, acrylic standee, slipcover, soundtrack, and mini artbook for $150. That's a normal LRG "premium" product. |

This reads as though you found what I said attack-y, so I apologize if I somehow came across as aggressive. Definitely wasn't my intention! I was just trying to give you guys a little warning about LRG since I'm guessing a lot of toy collectors aren't necessarily video game collectors. I'm both and have followed LRG since their very early days and they have unfortunately become one of the worst offenders in that space as far as almost going out of their way to take advantage of people's FOMO.

I know obviously I'm not who the question is directed at, but I'll offer up my own two cents. From my own personal experience, as someone that's not overly fond of a lot of Limited Run's practices, a lot of it comes down to LRG having something of a monopoly as far as releasing physical editions of games intended to be digital releases. So there's unfortunately not much of a choice, more often than not, if you want a physical version of these games.
