Gas Station Food
So I know I'm not the only white trash guy around here. Where do y'all stand on gas station food, like hot dogs, cheddarwurst, nachos, etc?
I get it on occasion, in a pinch. It can be surprisingly decent. Just had some greasy ass dogs & slaw a few minutes ago. Hit the spot. Circle K has an exclusive grape Mountain Dew now, too. I don't mess with the taquitos or anything, they're always hella dry & have barely any substance inside.

It depends on the gas station. If the bathrooms are decent enough, then the food might be safe.

Kwik Trip has cut up, Rotisserie chicken in a container that I really like. Also, their hashbrown sticks are really good!

I might f*ck with a hot dog, hash brown or breakfast sandwich but otherwise I ain't that brave.
WaWa got some bangin'-ass meatballs, though. I guess that doesn't really count as that kinda thing comes from behind the deli counter, and I assume we are strictly discussing the heat lamp sh*t up front near the checkout counter.

If it’s breakfast you want, I highly recommend a breakfast pizza from Casey’s General Store. They’re actually pretty good.

I do like Sheetz Made-To-Order food. Stuff like their meatball subs and the mozz burger. Their tacos are aight but they're awesome when you're hung over.

Lotta indie wrestlers bounce along and cross over the NJ/PA line, and so there's forever a "Sheetz vs. WaWa" rivalry going on.
Must say, by the time I finally went to a Sheetz it had been built up so much I was thoroughly underwhelmed. WaWa all the way.

Tried a fried egg breakfast sandwich at the Irving/Circle K and as I watched the guy lather it in fake butter, I about died. And then he layered on the fake butter like 3 more times despite me saying "please don't lather on that fake butter ****" 3 times... and it cost me dearly. Lol. Used to eat the dogs now & again in a pinch but now I mostly avoid any and all fast food as its not fit for humans to eat. Real meat, not processed junk for this dude. Lol.

Depends if Royal Farms is a gas station with a large convenience store...or a convenience store that happens to have a gas station?
I know most here won't know of the chain since it's regional to this part of the Mid-Atlantic, but that's the only one with a gas station who's food I will gladly eat sometimes when I want something quick on the way home from work. Their chicken awesome. And those big potato wedge fries... an order of those and a couple of their chicken sliders (one Atomic and one Chesapeake Bay sauce) and I'm good. edit: I guess Wawa counts too... Only been a couple times when I had a gift card from work though, the location is a pain in the ass. Love their paninis however. |

The lowest I've gone is eat at 7/11. That's almost gas station quality.

Wawa's subs are bangers though.

Used to grab gas station food with abandon as a kid. Hot Dog, Pizza, etc. Now all you'll see me do is once in a blue moon grab a donut if I'm out early and getting gas.
I think what helps avoid that $#!( is when you have structure that doesn't put you near it, even more than any conscious decision. But yeah, I've definitely eaten from the Roach Coach and the Pizza Wheel and the spinning hot dogs of the gas station in my life. Not so much anymore anytime recently. |

Roach Coach sh*t ain't bad. You can get some bangin' chicken on a stick or chicken and rice and whatnot. When I was a mover that sh*t was practically mandatory. Movers and construction workers is like all of their business. For $5 you can get what you need to get through a good chunk of your work day. Not "good" but I'd take it over gas station sh*t any day.
