My point was already made by him once again failing to back up his claim (that Sophie is a liar) with any kind of evidence because naturally he's doesn't have any such evidence. Also for what it's worth, although we occasionally disagree about things, I do generally respect you and your perspectives. Last edited by hypered1; 01-26-2022 at 01:05 AM. |

Oh, God, that's so much worse. "Straight white dudes" unashamedly defending Campbell's stuff? Wow, that's just plain not acceptable.
Like, I'm also a straight white dude but I also can't imagine how it feels to hate my own dick as much as it seems you do. Hopefully I never will.

I don't understand why it would be so difficult to analyse the content in an attempt to determine whether or not it's likely someone else was involved with the writing, why resort to calling people conspiracy theorists or throw out other insults here? Even if you liked 101-124, it's undeniable that 125 is written very differently. It seems really strange that someone would write 23 issues straight in a very distinct way, then after one issue deliberately written with without text, we get something that almost entirely discards the structure, priorities and stylistic choices from the first 23.
And someone else being involved with the writing isn't the same thing as Sophie having no involvement at all. Writing a synopsis that someone else scripts or scripting parts of the issue is still writing, but it can still be very noticeable. It's also not like having access to facts is all that it comes down to for this sort of thing. There are people who specialise in identifying someone's work by analysing the contents. It's how people try to determine if a painting is the genuine work of the artist it's alleged to have been painted by, or if it is a forgery by a copycat. In terms of writing, even though the writers of the old testament are unknown, scholars have still been able to determine it was written by at least five people and where it was edited. It's not a perfect method and it is always better to have hard evidence, but it is still a useful tool. If we were to apply such a method to this forum, if we were to take quotes from the top five posters here, someone would probably be able to connect the right quote to the correct poster very accurately by simply analysing how these people write. |

A person's writing style is as unique to them as their fingerprints. Anyone with even the slightest understanding or practice in writing knows it.

I don't know Sophie well, but I know enough to know she "gets" and digs down in the trenches gritty TMNT. Maybe it isn't her favorite thing (or maybe it is and she was encouraged to go a certain direction? I have no idea) but she's never had a problem putting that stuff out there. And quite well.
And she's been here since Tales V2. This isn't, like, someone entering things out of left field. And point is, yes, I'd bet she could and would be able to write accordingly if that's what was going on. She can shift gears. We've seen this already.

We're not talking about "grit" here, we're talking about how this thing is structured. If all there was to this was the introduction of a creepy surgeon and some agitated frogs but everything else was consistent with Sophie's writing, I probably wouldn't question it. The problem is that the pacing, the dialogue, compression level, etc. Are very different from the previous issues in this run.

When did Sophie Campbell get a reputation for lying?

Let's stop here, guys. There's no reason to be so disrespectful. I don't like what Sophie's doing with the series, actually I hate it, but that's it. I still respect her as a person and as an artist.
And, yeah, why calling her a liar? Where are all these lies you are talking about? |

Assuming IDW keeps the license (far from guaranteed at this point), I expect we'll see the renumbering stunt, but... when we get the 200 equivalent issue, they will pull the old Marvel trick from earlier in this millennium and temporary revert the book to its old numbering, just so they can promote the milestone 200th issue.... probably to be followed by another #1 a few months later.

I get it. I don't get why it bothers anyone though. Literally has zero effect on your life.
Either way, I really dig Sophie's art and while I'm not into the story she's crafted over the last 25 issues, I still respect her. And I bet I'd be reading the book, flaws and all, if she were actually allowed to cut loose a bit. |
