That's probably the weirdest thing about this, why would anyone mash up clips from shows that look nothing alike? Is it a lawyer demand or something?

Speculation: Stephen Colbert's show is on Paramount Plus as is the 2003 TMNT show. Perhaps the higher ups mandated that the footage include some 2003 ciips to subtly promote 2003 even the theme used is from 1987.

Then again... what claim do they have on the footage from the Fred Wolf toon, unless they secured some permission via Lionsgate? I suppose it could be justified by Fair Use interpretation, but companies like Viacom usually want to cross their Ts and dot their Is for this sort of thing.
