It's weird not to use any major villains as well. No Shredder, no Foot Clan, etc.

Just a bunch of mutants who are basically in name-only with the characters but not anything like the characters themselves.

I'm excited for the movie. Some pretty fun designs, intriguing cast, lots of OG Playmates toy line homages, a kaiju fight, should be a hoot. Between the leaks & the two trailers you can pretty much piece together the entire thing, not too far a cry from the 2012 & 1987 cartoons by the look of it. I'd expect nothing different, their audience is casual fans who remember the old toy line & share it with their children now.

It's been made pretty clear from the get-go what they're aiming for. It's a kid-friendly nostalgia romp. It is what it is. Stuff like this is never gonna be Mirage-adjacent, I know & can accept that. As much as some of us want something in that vein, it wouldn't be done justice in a toy-pushing animated feature anyway. Would need to be live-action, PG-13+, toothy, hands-on with the original creators. Not terribly likely, unfortunately.

I'm most looking forward to seeing Scumbug & Wingnut get some spotlight, they're longtime favorites of mine.

At the very least visual wise it looks good. Probably could just zone out of the story and focus on the movement and action scenes.

Seemingly confirmation that the movie is essentially a pilot for a new tv series. This comes off very much what Nickledeon wanted from the start; a cgi version of the '87 cartoon before Ciro got other ideas. It does make me wonder though unless things have changed since the story boarding process (which to be fair is possible) I wonder how they are going to continue with this heavily Fred Wolf influenced show when they have demutated all the Fred Wolf characters.

Also confirms the villain-centric Paramount+ movies are unconnected to the continuity of this movie.

Jackie Chan voices Splinter in the movie, I don't think they can get him on board for a full cartoon though. He'll probably be recast. Also hope to god Donatello's VA goes through puberty then if they keep him for a series.

I think they could lock him in, he’s not young any more so he could do another series, as opposed to another movie, plus he’s done an animated series before so it’s not impossible

And it may be a stretch to think that Donnie’s VA may have gone through puberty since the filming

Don better remove those glasses by the climax of the movie as a "coming of age" moment.

My question then, is this going to be a typical streaming series where once a year (or several month gap) there might be a handful of episodes and it keeps most of the production value of the movie, or will it be spun off in a more simplified or 2D version, and that's why it's labeled as being in the same universe rather than an exact continuation of that the movie is.

They better not lock a new show to Paramount+, I swear. Though if that one Spongebob spin-off is any indication maybe it would likewise show up on cable, albeit delayed.

Based off what the article says, it looks like it will be Paramount+ exclusive. But if this is true then at least you won't have to force yourself to watch it. Especially if it turns out to be something that's not to your liking.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if they release it on Netflix later on seeing as Paramount is releasing some of their Nickelodeon shows on the service. Plus 2012 and Rise are also there.

We're going to have to put up with this fat black April for a new series aren't we. Maybe this is "April O'Neil Sr" and she has a teenage daughter who is white (her husband was white so their child can be interracial), and they can have a teenage April for a new cartoon. Would make sense with the Turtles depicted as younger here, some fat middle age school teacher has nothing in common with them.

Yeah, it does open up a lot questions, don't it? My best guess is that since the storyboards show Ray Fillet getting demutated twice, it's possible for them to at any point get remutated. Still, that would be an awkward solution. There is also the possibility that these streaming movies won't focus on these particular characters.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by Ciro Nieli getting other ideas? DIdn't the show include more stuff from FW towards its end (even going as far as including a three part crossover), not less?

You realise multiple unrelated continuities can release content simultaneously, right?

Well, it wasn't going to be PG and obviously wouldn't be R, so that shouldn't be any surprise there.

It's still so sad to think about the days of TMNT I-III. Back then, I'd dream that one day, maybe, we'd get at least a PG-13 rated TMNT movie and it'd be so amazing. Now we'll have had 3 PG-13 TMNT movies and they'll all have sucked.

Honestly surprised if it's PG 13, I guess they actually use their weapons a little. Maybe for more than getting stuck in Donnie's leg.

Or maybe they'll say "$hit" and "ass" once like the 2016 movie to get that precious PG-13 rating.

I doubt it'll be PG-13, but it'd be hilarious if it actually is
