I'm still using the iphone 6....in 2021. I'm a cheap bastard and until my phone literally stops working I'm never getting a new one. All I use it for is to make calls, surf the internet and that's basically it. I barely ever play games on my phone or use any apps, so I have no reason to upgrade it.

Just think of all the money I'm saving!

A nice little Galaxy A10e. Works great, plenty of memory, and a decent camera, too.

Anyone else with an older phone facing loss of service due to coming 3G shut down?

Still on my old cheap grandfathered plan from Virgin Mobile that was moved to Boost when the former shut down. Now though, Boost isn't even offering any options for those of us with that plan. Have over $260 credit on that account that they're probably just going to take and shrug. Already read comments from another customer saying they were told they wouldn't get anything back on the remaining credit and their only solution given was to go buy a new phone and pay a lot more for a new plan. (AT&T are supposedly at least sending customers a new device for free.)

They have a couple 4G flip phones on their site... you'd think they'd offer us the ability to switch to one and just keep with their service, but no reason the plan shouldn't be compatible so clearly they just want to be rid of us.

Guess I'll be shopping around... Hate to lose this old plan and really don't want to waste money paying for something that costs more for something I'd use little.

I esp feel bad for people who had bought expensive phones that are still working just fine, but will lose service to them. What a waste.

Okay... so finally figured out what I'm doing about this situation.

After having one I was considering via Amazon (and through Tracfone) sell out from under me -- because with only 6 left I still had to go and take forever looking at reviews, specs, etc for it and others when I couldn't decide -- I found the same one for a better deal with a year of service, etc from Tracfone via eBay.

I know it's nothing fancy and among the more budget friendly ones, but will be moving from my old Samsung flip phone to a Samsung A21 and finally joining the rest of the "normal" people since I'm forced to change it.

My work one is an A20 so hopefully it will feel familiar glad work allowed me to get used to one first.
