Get Over The Conceit

Have you heard that phase? It use to describe any show that would skip the general logistics like...well pick any twilight zone episode or maybe even a doctor who episode that was written by Steven Moffat, and I feel that term has come to described recent Nick TMNT episodes. So do you think in order to enjoy watching it anymore, you would have stop taking this show seriously?

What? Who is this being aimed at?

I enjoy the majority of this show very much, my only complaints are its too mutant heavy and I'd like more human villains.

I'm still enjoying the show...so there isn't anything going on to keep me from enjoying it.

I think I'm starting to not take episodes seriously lately, not sure if it's helping though...it only makes me frustrated XD....(like wasted potential and all that)

I don't understand this, which means it's probably a Tumblr thing.

All the rants/posts on this forum are from tumblr. Especially all the shipping topics about Casey/April/Don.

The Nick TMNT series attracted an anime/tumblr/fangirl crowd to the fandom that had never existed before.

Because none of that twitter/tumblr stuff was popular before as it is now. Duh.

Where does this suddenly come from? I thought the recent episodes were among the best this season. Of course opinions may differ but I got the impression that they are also generally well received... I admit I'm not too fond of A Chinatown Ghost Story but that's just one episode.

Yeah, I fail to see where this thread is going, too. What do you mean by conceit? I've never heard this phrase at all.

I mean there times when character does things that makes no sense or having idiot ball moments like when Shredder left a mutated Baxter in his labs and now thanks to him, he has a monster lose in his HQ. He could have lock him up or at least tried to.

Heck even with this new episode, it threw with April and Irma being key ingredients in dematerializing a chinese ghost. Does it make sense? Who cares?! It's randomly throw in for plot and movie reference.

What the heck are you guys talking about? I've been out of the Nick subforum for a while, but are you guys seeing episodes that haven't aired in the US?

If anything, there were a helluva lot MORE "fangirls" and such when I first joined this place. At the very least, they were a lot more vocal than they are now.

Entirely neutral on the subject, just commenting. "Fangirls" and "Shipping" are hardly new to this franchise.

I don't recall these people existing when the 4kids cartoon was airing. And I was there for the entire span it was originally airing on TV when it was new.

I didn't think about this. The show was too fun for me to notice anything like that!

My general problem is that the show is not as well written as Season 1, and we already know that's because they got new writers!

I think part of why people are complaining so much is because most of the shipping I'd seen in this fandom prior to 2k12's release was, well, incest-based, so it was confined to parts of the internet that do that kinda thing because I'm sure if it was brought here people would be raising hell. I wasn't part of this forum so I can't really say, but I saw TMNT shipping a LOT in the other communities I was part of, especially in the early and mid 2000's.

Not so much the case now, since human/turtle romances are getting a lot of spotlight in canon, which wasn't really done too much before, and the people that craze over those have moved to different online communities [such as Tumblr] where they're more visible due to the way Tumblr's set up.

There is little to no shipping in TMNT since the one canon pairing (April/Casey) is expected to happen in every series so not much thought comes to it.

Also TMNT has a lack of female characters, besides Karai and a few others, so there's not much pairings to go for. And people don't like giving the TMNT love interests in general.
