One thing I recently noticed is that April has no animation frames in the actual episode (only on screen for about 2 seconds). But my animation cel (and the six others that sold from the ebay store) actually feature distinct frames where she moves her arms and face. For whatever reason, the animation cels did not make it into the episode, as Irma got the focus of the scene and speaking parts.

I’ve had numerous cels I knew were from a particular scene/episode, but could never see the exact frame in the episode. Cut for time perhaps? I always thought edits and timing were planned out before animation, or at least before final cels were made.

Can you post your frames? Would be nice to see the actual cells.

If there's anything consistent about the old TMNT cartoon, it's that "mistakes get made."

I have two more cels that feature a cut animation sequence near the end of "Mean Machines."

Heh, yeah, I noticed the same seller actually had SEVEN April bikini cels for sale, each one with a slightly different animation frame. They sold pretty fast, and I imagine they made a decent profit!

Oh, cool, so now we know there were at least 8 frames for this bit!

I've been collecting comic art for a decade, but I only started looking at TMNT comic art last year.

First, I had a look at Kevin Eastman website and fell in love with this Urban Legends RE cover :

Then, I read TMNT/Batman crossover and chose this page. Nice big panel, 4 turtles, and Shredder reminds me the first NES video game.

Now I'm trying to find something from Cory Smith, but I think I'll have to wait since available items are not very exciting.

The Urban Legends RE cover and that page by Cory Smith (that first panel with Leo!) are both neat! Congrats, guys.

Here's an animation cel I picked up of April (in her briefly-seen casual-wear outfit) from New York's Shiniest.

One cool thing about the cel is that it reveals a fully painted cel that was mostly absent from the actual episode. Inexplicably, the pan of the camera cut out almost the entirety of the April cel to showcase Irma, even though April still speaks most of the dialogue (and probably had multiple frames of animation while Irma remains mostly stationary).

Happy start of Summer! Enjoy this animation cel of Mikey practicing his surfer skills against a water hose! (From the episode The Mean Machines):

And here are some art cards I recently picked up from some aspiring artists who put a lot of labor into their creations:

Jason Walski / "ArtbyJDough"

Andy Shaggy Korty

Man, I miss this thread. I guess I'll post an old Laird piece I used to own to keep the thread alive. Anyone got anything new lately?
