Moving to where exactly?

Because, so far direction looks pretyy **** - no more big tentpole events, but just bunch of high budget TV specials is not what I'd call "moving". More like running rounds on the same space.

I haven't left my home in a month, since I've been working from home I only go somewhere maybe once a month now.

And there are some months I don't go outside at all.

And the movie industry is fine now ?
Only remakes and sequels, Over budget movies meaning that only the safest movies guaranteed to make their ROI are made ,, "blockbuster" movies with little to tell outside of explosions, PG13 only because it's too risky to make R rated movies, catering/censoring for the chinese market so they came make their budget.
I'm not so sure

I mean, no, that isn't a great state of affairs, but just like in the video game industry or anywhere else in the entertainment business, the audience does it to themselves. They vote with their dollars, and if sequels, "play-it-safe" mainstream stuff and blockbusters are all anyone ever pays for, it stands to reason that's all they're going to get.

I've railed against this for a long time, be it movies, games, whatever. People SAY they want one thing, but in the end they don't support that, they save all their money for "blockbusters" and sequels. New IPs get ignored. In turn, studios put all of their money into what sells. It works like that across the board.

The only way to change that is to actually support - financially - smaller and more original projects. Companies give people whatever they consistently pay to see; it sucks but you can't fault them for simply looking after the bottom line.

I mean I'd pay to see a good Western movie any day. But they're not going to make any until it's more than just me willing to pay to see it. Sucks for me, but it makes sense.

There's a lot of great movies that come out each year that fly under the radar. I usually scan through rotten tomatoes by year to see the top movies and there's tons of stuff that are smaller movies that I never even heard of that I wound up enjoying after I watched them. Even stuff big-name actors are in, and Nicholas Cage has had a few good recent movies that nobody ever talks about.

Even then they can occasionally create some good stuff.
And, as much as I despise remakes / reboots and sequels, its better than having nothing at all.
