Jim is freaking awesome, I commissioned two pieces from him and he did an amazing job. He actually undercharges for his work. Very nice of him to send the extra piece and its on a piece of duo shade... it must be getting pretty rare last I heard it was almost all gone. I know Kevin used it for his book last year there must be very little left. Perhaps Peter still has a bit personally but it sounds like its about all gone.

I also thought it was pretty funny when I looked at his handwriting. Although I was expecting the package...he has such a distinctive writing style...it is almost a type of artwork itself. I bet most of us could pick out his writing out of thousands of samples.

I saw that cover on his Facebook last night. Had a feeling I'd see it in here. Super awesome!

I decided to get an original art page with my birthday money and got a Dan Duncan page. Sorry for the glare.

Cool, man. A nice choice you made, I'd say. What it lacks in detail is made up for by the heartfelt moment and a little bit of everybody in it.

Thanks. Yeah that's what I was thinking. I was looking at a few different pages but kept coming back to this one because it has almost (I don't think Donatello is in it) everyone and was the wrap up of the first arc looking for Raphael. And Raphael is my favorite along with Casey Jones so it's good to get a page with both of them in it too.

I agree, I love his writing. It reminds me a bit on Japanese caligraphy at times - when he's been lettering his own work and its been brushed(?) on. When it comes to his actual art, I love the shapes he uses. There's no one else quite like him out there. Lawson is bloody awesome!

Not Turtles related but I did score some nice Original Art this weekend at SpringCon in St. Paul, MN.

I got this awesome Green Arrow page featuring Connor from Phil Hester! Pencils by Hester inks by Andy Parks.

A Ghostbusters page from the Other Side mini series from IDW a couple years back. Pencils and inks by Tom Nguyen. How can you not love this page of Venkman punching out Janine? So hilarious hahaha!

And the grandaddy of them all...a sketch from one of the greatest Superman artist of all time, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez (I'm a huge Superman fan). It was an honor just to meet him and get some books signed and pick up this sketch. It was really great!

I also got a really amazing Ghostbusters page from Erik Burnham. Its from the Real Ghostbusters backup story he's drawing. Its a fairly big reveal and is from the new issue #4 that comes out tomorrow, so I'll wait to post it so I don't spoil anything.
