And that was a pretty good special, by the way. Though by the sound of it he had it recorded like the middle of last year?

Wow I can't believe they're including a world map for TMNT 3 for the Gameboy. That game is basically a Metroid/Castlevania game and the lack of the map confused the hell out of me where to go. I can actually beat the game now. That is shocking, they're actually improving the old games.

Not a good one though… heh

According to Top HatGaming Man, Radical Rescue might have actually started the Metroid-vania before Symphony of the Night made it definitive. Although, I can’t say if tmnt really does anything different than the first three Metroids other than using multiple characters in lieu of powerups

Impossible. Castlevania II: Simon's Quest was the start of Metroidvania.

I probably misremembered exactly what he was getting at but here's the video:

Castlevania II was basically a game where you backtrack but I wouldn't say it was a true Metroidvania, it has more in common with Zelda II on NES honestly.

CV2 was more like an open world game, as opposed to heavily confined "metroidvania".
Though due to technical limitations, it is indeed can be considered "metroid-like".

Game to include over 1,000 Design Documents:

Also, T Rating heavily suggested to be on account of Super Famicom version of Tournament Fighters/Mutant Warriors.

I'm really surprised how much work they're putting into this, I really just thought this would be a quick put together collection to cash-in on the sales/success of Shredder's Revenge. So far the only things that seem missing is online for SNES Turtles in Time but even then that doesn't bother me too much.

The Tournament Fighters competitive community is disappointed the online play options are normal speed only, but perhaps PC mods will intervene.

Nobody cares what he thinks, bro!

But the collection is looking very content heavy. Also Cubed, you must not have played enough games this year if a collection is game of the year for you.

I care what he thinks since he's a big TMNT fan, Plus the stuff they showed on the video is insane, The amount of content this collection has.

Literally the only game this year that might be better than the two TMNT games is God of War in the Fall.

2022 has been a dire year for games. I liked Pokemon Arceus and the Kirby game, but if you aren't into JRPG's, there's been nothing to play for some time. Horizon: Forbidden West was good but still too similar to the open world stuff we've gotten the last decade. The only other game I'm interested in is Mario and Rabbids 2 which looks fantastic.

I'm hoping most, if not all, of that is also in the art book, or at least that the art book's amount of content is just as robust even if it's different stuff. I mostly say this as someone that pre-ordered the way too expensive collector's edition specifically for the art book.

I picked it up for exactly the same reason. The artbook should be great with all those documents they had up at Konami HQ in Japan.

It seems certain that the digital art gallery will at least have the advantage of having optional layered English translations of the Japanese text.

We got a little sneak peak at the table of contents of the physical book around the 1:34 mark of this video, and even at around 180 pages, I'm starting to think the digital content may exceed the print book. It would be great if they were each unique in certain ways. Table of Contents suggest about 10-15 pages dedicated to each game, except Tournament Fighters which might get the royal treatment.
