They should make this movie now, and the alternate world can be stupidly, painfully 90s x-treme and everyone from the first Earth think it's retarded.

Well, I really like the looks of Kirby, the name is kinda weird, since it doesn't fit in with the other guys. But other than that the movie probably would have sucked big time.

The name was a tribute to Kevin & Pete's favorite artist Jack Kirby. So to some extent, it fits.

Yeah I've figured that, but it doesn't really fit in the whole renaissance related names...is there any other famous italian renaissance sculptor or other artist?! Well, doesn't really matter. I like the looks of Kirby, however the idea of a 5th turtle still feels weird

Which is fine, because the movie itself doesn't fit with anything belonging in this dimension.

Considering when this film was in the preproduction phase:

100% chance April would have been played by Julie Strain.

Guys, we really, REALLY dodged a bullet.

It's possible, but according to Dan at that time Julie was supposed to play some kind of evil Empress from that other dimension. Maybe Evil April?

Absolutely. Though it was only for us to get hit by one anyway in 2007, albeit one of a lower caliber.

As bad as this movie sounds, the one they're currently making could be just as awful especially if its anywhere near that first rejected script we've seen.

I may be confused, but I think she was intended to be a villain in the second season of the Next Mutation TV series. Kevin mentions it in his Artobiography, or so I'm told (I don't own a copy).

Could be that her character was going to be recycled from the movie for the series like so many other ideas.

Yeah, the last page of his Artobiography is a page of Next Mutation concept art which includes an image of a character called Stilzar and part of her robot army dated 1997 with the caption "Julie almost made it on the show"

So wasn't Paige Turco due to return in 4?

Oh man. Yeah. Kevin Eastman left to his own creative whims is a scary, scary man!

Yes, in the Artobiography, that character was described as pertaining to the Next Mutation show. My guess is that "Evil April" might have been a working title for the "Evil Emperess/Ninja/Warrior" character that Kevin was pushing for just to get his wife the role. Making the character into an alternate or corrupted version of an already familiar major character like April might have just been his belief that the idea would have a better chance of getting picked up than if he tried to introduce a totally original female character.

I'd love for somebody to do an interview with Kevin Eastman about the ideas behind his failed pitch.

I think that had this film gotten made, one of two things would have happened. The designs would have been so extreme and out there that the reaction wouldn't be too dissimilar to Batman & Robin. Or, if did get made, then, most likely, the more extreme designs would be toned down or removed altogether.

That was probably a separate thing. When NT:TNM came out the script for the fourth movie was retailored (for the 159th time) to include Venus in the mix, so it was definitely going to be in that universe. Julie was to be in the film at some point, I'm just not sure if that's before or after the NT:TNM influence was present.

I don't think they ever even made it to casting concerns. She probably would have.
