So Teela is going to take over the He-Man show.
Netflix seems to want to sidetrack He-Man to pretty much make Teela the star of the show. I love Teela, but no way should the show NOT be about He-man.

A show about a HE and Man is not going to fly in today’s political economy.

When was the last time a tv show or cartoon had a strong male character? Ben 10? Justice League? Now Polly Pocket has a TV show, She-Ra had her reboot, and I am not going to comment on that, I don't see a male hero in todays media, there has to be some balance were the girls get there shows, and the boys also get there show. Today it seems to be focus on one direction.

It is titled "Masters of the Universe: Revelation", no He-Man in the title

I’m hesitant to be adding hate, but I agree. Men need space to be men, and it’s apparently not okay to be a man these days. This topic gets political quickly, so I won’t go much further, but I agree, the essence of He-man is the titular character.
Teela may be more titular than He-man, but still... |

Sure. But some of us, who live in big cities, where we don’t spend all day doing manual labour, like outlets for being more, well, barbaric. And tipifying what men do, in that context, would not be welcome the otherway around, just saying. Girly stuff can range from shopping to a good book, if we’re being stereotypical, And many things in between. And I’m not saying he shouldn’t be handsome. Being a man doesn’t mean being nasty, but there are things that are typified as masculine, and He-man can and should be those things. This this should not do, is push aside the man to tell the womans story. We’ve got plenty of that now. No need to plant the flag in one more male property. |

It's 2019 (2020 by the time this comes out) and He-Man is a white, blond man. Of course we have to move the focus away from him. We can't have that.
I'm joking and I hope I'm wrong. Can't judge until we see more obviously. But I also caught this in the description and it did make me raise an eyebrow. For the moment at least, well, the SDCC exclusive toy to kick off the return of the figures was Prince Adam and He-Man soooo... I'd like to think they are getting this right, but we'll have to wait and see. Let's remember Kevin Smith is known for emasculating male characters. Batman comes to mind. |

Maybe it makes sense that it's about Teela since as we already know she will take over as the Sorceress from her mother. It still sucks that it won't be about He-man as much, but I'll still watch it.

Hopefully it will turn out to be wrong.
I have no idea how prominent Teela was in the original since I wasn't a big watcher of the show, and I see no issue with bringing her more to the forefront if she wasn't as much before, but it should definitely be as He-Man's wing man, er, woman, in a series (or other prominent vital presence in it), not as the central character of it. I mean, I appreciate that people are trying more to come up with some action oriented things kind of aimed at girls and women, instead of all the cutesy stereotyped girly bullcrap all the time; it really was desperately needed and I hope it continues. But I do not like the trend that girls/women have a hard time getting original ideas that will be awesome and that everyone, even the guys, might love, instead of taking the lazy route of just reworking something old that's been done already with guys. Things don't have to be girl power all the time. One of the spaces women need sometimes to be women is also in decent male characters to appreciate, too. Those Turtle boys and the amount of girls and women who love them are proof enough. |

You, ironically make the problem worse by qualifying your statement as a problem "to protect yourself" when in fact there is nothing hateful about what you said. I'm done giving credibility to manipulators who have made people like Tommy here have to qualify his words according to their judgement of what is or is not "hate". Tommy, the people in society who have put you in the frame of mind to even have to speak like this are the haters, buddy. They are manipulating things in a web that's hard to compute, but just simplify it. The people that wield hate accusations are the haters. |
