New reissue figures found

I stopped by one of the local Target stores here and ran across something odd and unexpected, new single carded reissue figures. I found Splinter, Shredder, Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady. But the cards also show Leatherhead, Foot Soldier and the storage shell Turtles.

These had an odd sticker added to the top right corner of the back of the card, so I don't think they were normal inventory. But I would have to expect more of them to show up soon.

BTW, they rang up as $12 each.

I hope these come to the UK, especially the Storage Shell Turtles - they usually have the classic figures in Toymaster and on Amazon eventually.

$12 sounds like a steal of a deal, seems like anything with movable arms is at least $20 these days.

That Bebop is horribly painted, it looks like a very bad bootleg. I wouldn't pay more than $1 for that junk.

Is it a bootleg? I know that there were 2 bebop variants, one with the brown head and one with the pink, but this figure's head looks really pale (maybe it is the flash?)...

I know the original supposedly had a lighter colored head (why?), but this is even a more jarring, unless it's just the camera flash giving it more contrast.

Cool to see more might be released out there somewhere. Though I've still never seen any in person, not even the Turtles.

It's not a bootleg, it's a re-issue from Playmates themselves. But their re-issues aren't the same as the originals. Bebop did have a pink face in the original release, but the art on the cardback is more what it looked like, not the heavy spattering on that figure. This re-issue also doesn't have have paint on the bracelets, belt, or shoes, which even the original did have, as much that was still unpainted back then.

The storage shell turtles on the cardback appear to have similar issues to the reissued movie star turtles. Reuse of arms and legs instead of unique sculpts. See Mikey as he appears to have two flat feet and the wrong forearm. Hard to tell on the other 3 turtles

I really like these for the cards and would like to get them but I don't feel like hunting for months. They're already all-over eBay for ridiculous prices. Hopefully they'll be available online soon. I can't find them on the Target website or Brickseek yet. If you guys have any tips on how to get these somewhat easy I'd appreciate it.

They are also missing paint apps on the gums and mouth based on ebay listings.

Playmates' re-issues are notorious for having the wrong colors (or in some cases, having entire parts that are completely unpainted that the original releases had paint on).

The Giant turtles reissues are significantly smaller than the original. And if you were wanting to use the belts from the new ones for the old ones (like myself) you can't. They're molded and a soft plastic, plus smaller.

Saw everything except the Foot tonight at a single Walmart. They were stocked right near the front of the aisle. That was fun to see given TMNT has had no presence in the aisles of most Walmarts I visit for a year or two now.

They all had these weird annoying white stickers on the top right of the card back. I think they are RFID stickers or something with "circuitry" inside. Wonder what that's all about and also annoying they covered the card art (which is the entire point of buying some of them).

I saw that also, RFID theft protection I guess. They are on all of the TMNT playmates items, giant turtles, storage shells, reissues too. They come off the giant and the storage cards decent but be VERY careful with the reissue ones. They seem to be harder to remove from those. I recommend a hair dryer to heat them up and then very, very slowly peel them off or you might end up taking the print with it.

One of my local targets locks up the deodorant now, FFS yet the alcohol isn't. Lol.

Walked into Walmart for the first time in a while yesterday and they had almost all of the ones I wanted. I just need Leatherhead and a Foot Soldier.

I wish the quality on these re-releases was better but I just can't resist when I see them hanging on these cards again.

I'm guessing the next wave will be April, Baxter, Slash, Mutangen Man and Wingnut/Screwloose. They already released most of them in figure sets recently so it would make sense.
