New reissue figures found
I stopped by one of the local Target stores here and ran across something odd and unexpected, new single carded reissue figures. I found Splinter, Shredder, Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady. But the cards also show Leatherhead, Foot Soldier and the storage shell Turtles.
These had an odd sticker added to the top right corner of the back of the card, so I don't think they were normal inventory. But I would have to expect more of them to show up soon. BTW, they rang up as $12 each. |

I hope these come to the UK, especially the Storage Shell Turtles - they usually have the classic figures in Toymaster and on Amazon eventually.

$12 sounds like a steal of a deal, seems like anything with movable arms is at least $20 these days.

That Bebop is horribly painted, it looks like a very bad bootleg. I wouldn't pay more than $1 for that junk.

Is it a bootleg? I know that there were 2 bebop variants, one with the brown head and one with the pink, but this figure's head looks really pale (maybe it is the flash?)...

I know the original supposedly had a lighter colored head (why?), but this is even a more jarring, unless it's just the camera flash giving it more contrast.
Cool to see more might be released out there somewhere. Though I've still never seen any in person, not even the Turtles. |

Playmates seems to be trying to keep the prices on the reissues low. And unfortunately the paint applications seem to be the first to go. But this is pretty much the same as all the Bebop reissues that we've gotten in the last decade.

Not that my 7 year old mind was capable of it, but who would have thought, back in 1989, that they'd be buying the same figure in basically the same package, more than 30 years later?
I bought my Bebop, which was one of the earliest figures I ever got (my first was Rocksteady, followed by Donatello), at Hills for $2.50. Kind of neat to see this, but I have the 25th anniversary rerelease and definitely will not be purchasing more new old figures. Last edited by I Crave Pizza No More; 12-26-2022 at 05:42 AM. |

I really wish that General Traag and Casey Jones would get re-releases.

For comparison, here's what the original figure looked like:

Awesome! I had been praying for re releases of the Storage Shell turtles. Always liked those better back in the day. And I agree that Casey would be a welcome addition to the classic collection.

The appeal of these is of course the original card art on front and the character bio on back. Like the Turtles from Walmart which *additionally* were soft heads to boot, we have never gotten modern reissues with original per-character card art. Despite the fact that I have already bought several reissues of these guys, including in the recent mutant module box set, the card art may well compel me to buy them yet again...

I think the original Bebops with the lighter face were soft heads. I think the soft plastic gave them the look. But maybe I'm wrong. Mine was later released that had

The storage shell turtles on the cardback appear to have similar issues to the reissued movie star turtles. Reuse of arms and legs instead of unique sculpts. See Mikey as he appears to have two flat feet and the wrong forearm. Hard to tell on the other 3 turtles

I really like these for the cards and would like to get them but I don't feel like hunting for months. They're already all-over eBay for ridiculous prices. Hopefully they'll be available online soon. I can't find them on the Target website or Brickseek yet. If you guys have any tips on how to get these somewhat easy I'd appreciate it.

They are also missing paint apps on the gums and mouth based on ebay listings.

I saw a set of the Storage Shell TMNTs yesterday, minus Mikey. Kinda warmed my heart. (Except was Donnie's purple always that dark?? I'd have gotten him but man he looked drab compared to the vibrant others.)
