Hard to believe they would re-release Scratch. Are we sure the current “official” Playmates Instagram account, @playmatestoysinc , is legit? Cause there was another Playmates account, @playmatestoys , like a year ago that had over 11k followers but that account disappeared, and this new one has around 4,000 followers. Probably still them, but why would they delete their account with over 11k followers and start a new one? Or maybe they got hacked, who knows.

I actually got a loose Scratch on Ebay years ago, the seller had a bunch of them loose that was supposedly from a promotional case or something if I recall, think they were going for $50 each. If Playmates does re-release I would get it just for the accessories, never did get those, and would be nice to have an extra Scratch.

Having seen a few more of those Playmates posts, I don't think they're teases at all unfortunately, just some typical engagement posts trying to drum up some fan interactions.

I got my $18 Movie Star 4-pack and for what it is it's fantastic. The bodies are wrong, yes, but at least they used one that stands easily. I do wish they had the movie accessories but giving them the standard set is fine. I really like the colors, too... except for Raph. It's funny how they always get his skin tone wrong. He's so much more saturated than the other three. If they all looked like that it'd probably work just fine but he stands out like a sore thumb standing with his brothers.

Anyway, I know people give Playmates a lot of crap for just reusing molds decades-old molds over and over but it's really fun buying the figures I don't already have and not worrying about my 2-year-old playing with them.

yeah, maybe, all speculation of course. still, it was interesting how they grouped them into 3s. they also edited their original description for the post, which I'm pretty sure was more suggestive regarding potential re-releases than what it currently is. also worth noting that this post wasn't formatted like their other "40 years of turtles" throwback posts.

my guess is they're gauging interest to see if the effort would be worthwhile.

or it could be nothing at all.

There is a rumor going around that the Technodrome will be released on June 1st exclusive to Amazon for $80. I hope it is true but take with a grain of salt.

Interesting... While I've had on display an OG drome (thanks to a good pal) for awhile now, if the box design is right I'd buy one.

Then I'd cross my fingers that we keep going deeper and they put out a Channel 6 news van (ought to be easy enough) and a Rock 'n Roll Muta-Bus (would be a smart move by Playmates to reissue along with the Rock 'n Roll turtles) somehow...

I'd also add a Foot Cruiser to the list except I just picked up one of those too. But, they all tend to be in somewhat sub-par condition so I suppose a reissue of that would be welcome enough.

The rock-n-roll turtles and the muta-bus were my favorite toys as a kid. I would love those to be reissued. Instant buy.

Considering what was done with the "reissue" blimp, I'm tipping any "reissue" technodrome will be a repaint/retool of the Bayverse Technodrome, the scout vehicle, or something completely new. No way a direct reissue technodrome will be under $100USD.

If they did something like the original unreleased concept and had a larger inflatable balloon body, and plug on base and weapons, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Nah, they know that would never fly. Though the Bayverse 'drome is nice too for what it is.

It most certainly can be under $100 USD. Thinking otherwise reflects drinking too much S7/Mondo/NECA Koolaid about how expensive plastic is. You can walk into Walmart right now and buy gigantic playsets with enormous plastic content (of the same sort the 'drome requires) for various properties aimed at toddlers for < $40. Such is the luxury of product put out by actual toy companies who not only produce at larger scales but also who do this sort of thing in their sleep.

Now, it MIGHT be surprising if it actually contains every single original accessory/sticker.
