Or heck, who knows. Make Splinter a woman and raise the Turtles as feminists. Bonus points if it's Tang Shen.
We make Shredder an incompetant white man, Karai immediately ousts him, two of the turtles are gay, and Splinter dies in the first issue and is replaced by Apirl, who knows way more Ninjitsu than him and replaces him as the Master. The end of the show has Don realizing that he is also gay before hooking up with Casey, who is gay as well, and the final battle is between Karai and April after the turtles are defeated, but then Karai is redeemed and they kiss. Brought to you by Netflix.

It will be an arc in the ongoing as well as a miniseries, as it's scope is simply too vast to be either one or the other.

I might just get the separate book and skip the ongoing. Especially if the separate book has better art. Not digging the current ongoing art style.

Too late. Zog the Magnificent has already been hired to head the Netflix adaptation of Mutant Town.

The Campbell version: they're all androgynous women and there's no fight, just conversations about feelings.

Remember when Nostalgic Critic’s critique of TMNT was that they sat around and talked about their feelings.

Good times, good times.

If we were to have a serious conversation about adapting IDW into a show, I would recommend the following:
  1. If Armageddon Game isn't especially good, just rewrite 95-100 so that Mutant Town doesn't happen at all and just wrap up the remain plot threads quickly.
  2. If Armageddon Game is indeed good, just cram whatever about Mutant Town ends up being necessary to understand Armageddon Game into as few episodes as possible, the closer to zero the better.

We could always pull an Nth Man: The Ultimate Ninja and just do a timeskip that opens at the tail end of Mutant Town right when Armageddon Game starts.

That’s only assuming that the supposed show can make it through 200 issues worth to even worry about Mutant Town/Armageddon game.

Comic books adapted to TV go by very quick though. Most IDW comics are 20-22 pages, you can show that whole comic in less than 10 minutes in an episode.

It's like how anime has to add filler so they don't catch up to the manga as seen with Dragon Ball, with IDW TMNT they would breeze through the comic run very quickly if it was ever adapted to animation, even including all the specials, mini-series and one-shots.

Would this be a good starting point to jump into the current TMNT comics? I honestly don't know where to start.

I missed this before, but Starforce Media on Youtube have adapted up to issue #37 and each one is around 15 - 20 minutes long so an actual would probably work out to 2 issues per episode.

With what we know of the upcoming arc I would have to say no simply because you would be missing a lot of backstory.

And assuming said show wouldn't start out with Mutant Town and gloss over everything else...

I unironically recommend you start with #1. Tom Waltz's run is that good.
