[Suggestion] Should the non-TMNT sections of the forums be closed down?

Most forums have off-topic sections.

I know this is a TMNT forum, but that doesn't mean TMNT should literally be the only subject we're allowed to discuss here. Also, OT sections help keep a lot of users who lose interest in the main subject the forums are dedicated to.

I'd probably not be here anymore if it wasn't for the OT sections where I can discuss video games and such.

I'm open to letting the Current Events sections go, though. Political discussions here are just cancerous. So what use is there for that section besides making a thread whenever a celebrity dies? You could simply start posting RIP threads in the Everything Else section. They wouldn't be out of place there.

If the forum was only about TMNT stuff, there wouldn't be a forum. There's hardly anything to talk about. Right now it's the new game, but that won't last forever.

The problem is that these "adults" wanna treat this place like f*cking reddit when everyone implicitly agrees that reddit is a sh*thole for morons. But because that's since become "the standard", it trickles over into Here and nobody does anything to stop it because "Eh... internet."

I don't even think that getting rid of the Current Events Section would do any good, because even if you posted about dead celebrities in the "Everything Else" section, someone would still pop up to shout "iT wuZ teh JAB!1! WakE uP sHeEpLe!1!"

Honestly, the Best and Worst thing to happen here was The Volcanic Asteroid. Best, because it gave people a place where the rules were a lot more lax, and they could openly discuss "controversial" topics that were forbidden on the main board. The He-Man forum has The Tar Swamp as basically the same thing.

It was also The Worst Thing here, though, because it PROVED that the people here just aren't mature enough to have those conversations at all, period. TMNT Fans Are Manchildren.

It started with the bad picks for Mods. Cure was made a VA Mod, and almost immediately, he Banned me from the section just because he didn't like me. He even included "Nyah nyah" in his PM, just to twist the knife and show what kinda guy he was. Krang wouldn't do anything about that initially, because he was trying to give the VA Mods total authority to oversee the section how they saw fit, but he hadn't counted on their bias and cronyism being put on display to such an extent. It happened to a lot of other people there, too. Eventually, enough people complained to him about my being Banned from that section for Krang to overrule Cure and reinstate me, but by then the VA was pretty much falling apart anyway and eventually it was discarded as a failed experiment. Consensus was, "I guess we really CAN'T talk like adults, after all."

It annoys me, because as I've been pointing out, Other Forums carry on just fine, much larger ones than this one is. They can have their own section for "adult" topics and not have it turn into a sh*t pit. Because they're Actually Adults and behave as such, and people know that if they act up too much they'll be paddled and sent on their way.

It just shows me what I've always suspected: You can't expect adult conversation from 40-year olds in TMNT jammies. If other people can manage, then clearly This Fanbase is the problem.

Treating this place like it was reddit? Like what, adding up votes and downvotes? That would be terrible. Also, this seems to be one of the few forums left nowadays that doesn't have the "Like" feature or some sort of reputation system. And that's good. Let's not turn this place into a circlejerk.

The VA section opened shortly after I joined this place. I never got the courage to request permission to join it because I was a new user and figured I wouldn't be allowed there because the powers that be wouldn't want to risk allowing a user they didn't know yet to access such section. So I never got around to experience it.

I've been to and seen forums that are worse than this one. Even if this one has gotten worse lately.

By "like reddit", I just meant that everyone is a snarky asshole trying to out-snark the next guy to "score points", which is what I've seen in my very limited time skimming there. Not literally having a "points system", just rather that everyone there is an immature asshole and it's a place where morons gather as a matter of course. Which is what this place is, now.

See, people say this to me all the time and that's horrifying. I'd rather open up both wrists than try and have a conversation in any venue that's even 1% "worse" than this place. I can't fathom why anyone would willingly submit to such behavior. "It's fun to argue, it's fun to be insulted or have people take shots at your personal life because you like different movies." Like, what?

If that's the average person's idea of "fun" nowadays, it's no wonder society on the whole is such a bunch of assholes.

Because I was once young and dumb and didn't realise how ****** those places were back then. Nowadays I only post on two forums pretty much. This one and another one which isn't perfect but is also better than your average online community.

Reddit I stick to the very few communities that aren't full of idiots. Basically, the more subscribers a subreddit has m, the worse it is. The ones dedicated to niche Anime or video game series tend to be quite pleasant and non-cirlejerky, since people who join them actually want to discuss with other fellow fans.

Reddit is a cesspool of inbreds. I lurk but don't post & saw a dude comment about an actress being beautiful except for her pit hair (in one of 10 pics), expressing a simple opinion and they vilified the post. Lol.

I do not tolerate for one second the glorification of female armpit hair in recent times. It's f*cking awful, you lazy skanks.

I frankly think pit hair is gross on ANYONE but there's nothing worse than a sexy lady with Armpit Bush. And it smells bad. When I was a trainer, more and more women would come into the gym with hairy pits and once they started to sweat they smelled like f*cking stale Burger King. Just awful.

I have to shave my whole torso once in a while for wrestling so I know it's a pain in the ass, but it takes less than two minutes to drag a razor over your pits, and like 30 seconds if it's an everyday habit. Deal with it, ladies.
