Turtles in Time Re-Shelled; personal review
Hey guys,
Just downloaded and played through Turtles in Time Re-Shelled for the first time on XBLA. - I must say, I'm glad I bought it. It looks great, the animations are cool and the menu's with all the flashy 2D artworks are also to my liking. It definitely breaths '80s Turtles. The level seem a bit shorter but with the fast gameplay and kickass constant action, that might be logical. I started with Leo and he plays great (if you are a veteran on the SNES or original Arcade version, not an advantage!) All the moves are still there, only now in 8 directions. Thank God by the way, the ugly old sprite Splinter isn't there to Hurry you to the next screen. I love playing it and will definitely play through it dozens of times, but the whole experience seems very rushes, and that goes for the gameplay, the short levels, the fighting, the intro's between levels; it all feels, and is rushed! Graphically it 100% improvement, I LOVE it all, Gameplay wise it's ...well rushed. The 2D intro of April doing the news looks cool, its not just a 2D screen, its a handfull places after eachother, making it look a little bit animated. Haven't really payed attention to the music, except the title screen which has a faint beat to the Pizza Power song, but barely. The voice cast is great, and feels goos right away, only, Wayne Grayson does a terrible Krang voice. The rest is all top-notch. + Great graphics, voices, and overall look. Nice gameplay and controls - Feels rushed, Krang sounds horrible, short levels Gonna try the other Turtles and unlock the Achievements now! |

It might seem rushed, but considering that I could blast through the SNES version in under 30 minutes and that one had an extra level, I don't expect to be taking a long time to get through this version once it hits PSN.

Remember, this is not the orignal SNES game (1992), this is the arcade port (1991).
Some differences in the SNES version (NOT the XBL version) include: - An extra Technodrome level (At the end of level 3, which is a bonus level in the SNES version, the Technodrome comes up from the Earth after the Turtles defeat Rat King. There is a two part level in the Technodrome and then the Turtles face the Shredder Tank - throw enemies to break the glass - and Tokka/Rahzar mini-bosses.) - They are then are sent back to the age of the dinosaurs, where they face Slash instead of Baxter's sand monster. - Bebob and Rocksteady are bosses on the pirate ship. - Shredder is "Super Shredder" in the SNES version. Also, instead of the arcade's realistic death of the bosses, all the bosses explode. Overall, I think this game is well worth 800 MS points ($10.00) and a great way to have fun with a classic game. Yes it is different, but I like the remixed version's graphics, the 2K3 voice acting (except Krang), and the 4 player co-op online play over Xbox Live. 9/10 |

That's Mr. Woodchuck. Entirely different characters that sound nothing alike... if you ask Dave Coullier.
