I rarely bother with twitter so I can't say I feel too personally concerned about it either way or why he even cares that much and doesn't just make a competitor instead...but the whole "well if you don't give in to me I'm going to try to destroy you" is some real hostile takeover wannabe dictator-ish bulls*** right there.

Always wondered why the site didn't have an edit button so I agree with him on that, but that's about it.

Otherwise... I dunno, it's hard to describe the off putting creepy vibes he always gave me. Like, how to put it... the guy who could actually afford to be Batman, so to speak, but behind the scenes is a secret villain and you aren't going to know it until his hand is already in literally everything. Or some such analogy.

What, if you don't like how your neighbors keep their lawn you're in the right to just eminent domain them (if the power to do it was there) and take their property because you think you can do better?

Its not a private company, its a publicly traded company. There is no one owner, its got however many shareholders who are all owners. Right now one person who owners the 2nd largest share (9%) is trying to buy everything for himself from everyone else at a premium.

This is a good thing. Twitter chose a political side and deems itself worthy of deciding what is and isn’t disinformation.

It's been pretty amusing watching the timeline of comments from leftists on social media about the Musk/Twitter thing. First "They better not let him buy it! They better stop him!" to "HAHAHA! They better make him buy it!!" to now "Wait, he's actually gonna buy it? NOOO!!!" and so on.

Freedom of speech is one thing if humanity could be trusted not to abuse it to high hell, but who would tolerate being the landlord of a dumpster fire forever.

Either way I've so rarely used the site, so imma just sit back with the popcorn.

Some of the meltdowns will certainly include people who don't believe there are consequences to their behavior and think others don't have freedom of speech to tell them otherwise. Screams of "canceled" will still be plenty.

One account, created this month, included a Nazi swastika as its profile picture and retweeted quotes from Musk alongside antisemitic memes. Another tweet, showing a video montage glorifying Nazi Germany with the comment, "I hear that there have been some changes around here," was liked more than 400 times.

Racial slurs were posted rampantly overnight. One single-word tweet, showing a single racial slur in all capital letters, was retweeted more than 500 times and liked more than 4,000 times. It was tweeted at 9 p.m. Thursday night and remained online nearly 12 hours later.

Some of the Twitter influx was organized on other platforms, including the pro-Trump forum TheDonald, where its top posts Friday morning showed tweets celebrating lies about Trump's 2020 election loss and memes criticizing transgender people under the headline "When you can't get banned on Twitter anymore."
