Fcbd 2022
Alright, I've read it. Not much to say really, it's basically just a panel for panel remake of the Purple Dragon brawl from Mirage #1 with the names/weapons of the Turtles' swapped out and the EPF replacing the Purple Dragons. Beyond that, the only bit of new information is the implication that Venus is a puppet of the Rat King. There is a letters style page in which Tom describes the creative process and that he didn't return to the main book because he felt "fans might not want the old guy back" (... though I personally wouldn't mind another change in writers...). Then finally it contains the pages it recreates, not Mirage #1 in it's entirety, just that particular portion. Honestly, it might as well just have been full reprint of Mirage #1, with or without the remake.

On one side I wanna be like 'awww dude, spoilers, my shop isn't even open yet!!!'
But on the other side, I DID click on this topic link so that's on me.

Even if the Armageddon Game isn’t the official end of the IDW run, it may be the jumping off point for a lot of people who are wanting to see Tom tie up the loose ends |

Well, I mean it is pretty much just a recreation of a comic most of us have already read, didn't think there was much to spoil.

Well, about any concrete discussion I can find about Sophie's run is largely negative, be it here or elsewhere. So... Yeah, not just here I'm afraid.

Not popular on youtube for sure. I work on a computer so I listen to Youtube during the day. Any positive feedback I have ever seen was over 2 years old, and I really didn't see anything under 2 years. I just did a search for anything on them, and the channel with the largest viewer ship talking about the post-100 was Thinking Critical with 17.8k subs who had a negative opinion of things.

I ran late yesterday so by the time I got to my LCS, all the copies of TMNT got taken. I was kind of surprised given that the IDW comics haven't been popular with fans in recent times. But, uh, what's the consensus on this issue then?

See, that's part of the problem. Making things **** for 20 or so issues, while at the same time calling people that don't like that **** 'dickheads'.
This is why that crap was allowed to continue for so long.

Looks like the series is still popular to me:
https://www.comichron.com/monthlycom...2/2022-03.html Granted Venus probably gave the issue a boost. The Annual sold 16,908 and in February #126 sold 17,975 which is a bit down from #124 + #125. https://www.comichron.com/monthlycom...2/2022-02.html

Also for what it's worth Sophie has been confirmed to be staying on as the lead writer post-Armageddon Game.

Sigh. Again with the same old song and dance, even though sales numbers have been repeatedly proven to be meaningless, non-indicative of the comic's actual success and largely up to speculation from retailers, which was corroborated by Campbell herself at one point.

Think his comment was more directed at the people here who HEAVILY imply that people who DO enjoy this run aren't "real" fans (whatever that entails) rather than the people who simply dislike it and leave it at that. Gatekeeping is never a good look.

Maybe not, but it's absolutely necessary.

It's not about gatekeeping, it's about keeping, period. Namely keeping a long-running TMNT comic at a quality everyone can enjoy, instead of catering to a very small niche audience who don't read it and will just move on after they've ruined it for the rest of us. |
