Episodes to watch as a finale

I got my brother to watch the first three seasons with me but he lost interest. I'm wondering what episodes to show as a finale. There are probably three different finales that I could show him which are the season 4 finale, a season 5 finale and the apocalypse finale. I'm just wondering what episodes could form three different finale mini-movies. I re-watched season 1 and 2 but it's been a long time since I've watched season 4 and 5. Thanks.

Officially, the special “Wanted: Bebop and Rocksteady” is the series finale. I consider it the finale, myself, a good way to end the show, unlike the Mutant Apocalypse atrocity.

Thanks for that! I remembered it being a 1987 crossover that it finished on but Paramount Plus has a really weird order with Wanted:Bebop and Rocksteady being episode 12 but Wikipedia has it as episode 18 as I remember. What episodes would you recommend for the season 4 finale? I want to show him Shredder's demise as well as the official finale.

To finish season 4, I recommend watching “City At War”, “The Super Shredder”, “Darkest Plight”, “Requiem” and “Owari” in that particular order.

imo the Kavaxas arc of the last season make for a great series finale

Edit: I’m not saying skip other episodes just to move these to the end of the line

I think the best way to watch this show is simply to "prune" episodes until you get this list:
  1. "Rise of the Turtles"
  2. "New Friend, Old Enemy"
  3. "I Think His Name is Baxter Stockman"
  4. "Monkey Brains"
  5. "Never Say Xever"
  6. "The Gauntlet"
  7. "Mousers Attack!"
  8. "It Came From the Depths"
  9. "I, Monster"
  10. "New Girl In Town"
  11. "The Alien Agenda"
  12. "TCRI"
  13. "Baxter's Gambit"
  14. "Enemy of My Enemy"
  15. "Karai's Vendetta"
  16. "Operation: Break Out"
  17. "Showdown"
  18. "The Mutation Situation"
  19. "Follow the Leader"
  20. "Mutagen Man Unleashed"
  21. "Mikey Gets Shellacne"
  22. "Target: April O'Neil"
  23. "Slash and Destroy"
  24. "The Good, the Bad, and Casey Jones"
  25. "The Kraang Conspiracy"
  26. "Of Rats and Men"
  27. "The Manhattan Project"
  28. "Wormquake!"
  29. "The Lonely Mutation of Baxter Stockman"
  30. "The Wrath of Tiger Claw"
  31. "Vengeance is Mine"
  32. "Into Dimension X!"
  33. "The Invasion"
  34. "Buried Secrets"
  35. "Vision Quest"
  36. "Return to New York"
  37. "Serpent Hunt"
  38. "The Pig and the Rhino"'
  39. "Battle for New York"
  40. "Casey Jones vs the Underworld"
  41. "The Deadly Venom"
  42. "Turtles in Time"
  43. "Tale of the Yokai"
  44. "The Fourfold Trap"
  45. "Dinosaur Seen in Sewers!"
  46. "Annihilation: Earth!"
  47. "Beyond the Known Universe"
  48. "The Moons of Thalos 3"
  49. "Riddle of the Ancient Aeons"
  50. "The Arena of Carnage"
  51. "The War for Dimension X"
  52. "The Cosmic Ocean"
  53. "Revenge of the Triceratons"
  54. "The Ever-Burning Fire"
  55. "Earth's Last Stand"
  56. "City at War"
  57. "The Super Shredder"
  58. "Darkest Plight"
  59. "Requiem"
  60. "Owari"
  61. "Scroll of the Demodragon"
  62. "The Forgotten Swordsman"
  63. "Heart of Evil"
  64. "End Times"
  65. "Yojimbo"
  66. "Osoroshi no Tabi"
  67. "Kagayake! Kintaro"
  68. "Lone Rat and Cubs"
Though I should point out that even with this list, I would recommend that you just shove these episodes into someediting software and carve out the small necessary parts in otherwise pointless episodes and shove them into others. In particular the two parters can be combined. So you could probably have this cut way shorter.

The show only has 124 episodes, which at 22 minute episodes each, is really not that long. Not sure what is so hard to marathon, even if you only watch about 3 eps a day you'd be done quick enough.

Honestly, the show is basically over after the Kavaxas arc. The last 16 episodes have some good stuff, but they didn't need to be there. Personally, I take "Wanted: Bebop and Rocksteady" as the finale, and "Lone Rat and Cubs" as the epilogue. Just don't count Mutant Apocalypse as canon, because it's a terrible ending.

I would start by showing "Lone rat and cubs" before watching the first season, since it's a perfect way to introduce the series.

It's not really so much about the episode count as much there being a bunch of episodes just not worth watching.

If you want to be reminded that Splinter was aware of the Kraang way before the first episode yet somehow didn't bother to point out there were evil aliens running around.

Even if its divorced from the rest of the series, I'd still recommend Mutant Apocalypse as the finale.

In fact, due to how seperated that arc is, someone could have never watched the 2012 show and still enjou Mutant Apocalypse for what it is.

Shredder could've done more than blow up the Channel Six building. I don't mean as far as murdering Splinter, but think of the possibilities if censors were not an issue.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

Personally, I’ll forever hate that special because it aired one month after my Dad suddenly died from a heart attack.

Also, like, what the flip happened to our boys?? Raph became husky and grew a beard (and he carries Casey’s skull around), Donnie turned into Chappie, Mikey looks like the Cryptkeeper, and Leo…dear gosh, he’s a BDSM monstrosity. I refuse to accept that ending.

For me it's not so much that the Mad Max homage is bad (or least not worse than the typical bad episode) but more the fact that it's just a really bizarre way of trying to end the show.

Like, most of the show was about attempting to defeat the Kraang and prevent them from mutating the entire world because that is wrong and indeed, they successfully defeat the krang (or rather the Triceratons do)... And yet... The Kraang end up turning the world into into a mutant wasteland anyway? Admittedly, not in the way they intended with it being a Dimension X terraforming, but they still destroyed all of humanity? What the fuck kind of ending is that?

They never said the Kraang return, just that the mutagen bombs go off. My guess is if the show continued or we get a movie that revisits the series, it would be about traveling back in time to prevent this timeline.

Sorry about yout loss, Cowabunga-Gal.

I liked how Mutant Apocalypse ended with all 4 brothers re-united in the end, despite their world now being grim. It was a sweet final moment in my opinion.

The show took dark turns, so its not out of the question for their world to turn out like this.

It's just that as an ending, it completely nullifys the entire show. They keep saving the world, then it all blows up anyway. Nothing they did mattered. All they did was delay the end of the world by 5 years.

Additionally, it's an ending born out of spite, since Ciro said he deliberately did that so that no one could come after him and make more stories in that world. A clear cut example of torching the franchise and running. Finding out your mom is donating your childhood toys that you haven't touched in over 10 years to charity, and breaking them all because you don't like the idea of anyone but you touching them.

When it aired, I had no idea that was meant to be in continuity. It just seems like a throwaway parody. Doesn't fit any better than the Universal monster stuff. I'll always see season 5 as a set of "for fun" episodes that have little to do with each other or the rest of the series.
