Origami Foot Ninja, better or worse than Robotic Foot Ninja?

Alright, is it a better idea or not? I'd still prefer humans, but at least I guess it's more fitting than the stupid robots...

Robotic Foot Soldiers aren't believable (at least in modern times). So not them.

The use of robots gets a bit stale, but I can't say that I find the concept of magic paper any more interesting. Zzzz.

It's almost less impactful really if they're just bemagicked origami created on the fly. It doesn't really matter if the Turtles destroy them then as more can just be made in that fight or later.

At least destroying quite a few robots should have impacted Shredder's actual forces and mattered. (Even if the original series never quite acted like it did, at least not often.)

Origami Ninjas aren't as iconic as the Robots (atleast not yet) but they're definetly much more creative

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

Gotta agree with this.

Robot Foot soldiers are boring and were only ever a Saturday morning cartoon copout so the kiddie Turtles could use their weapons.

Origami Foot will serve the same purpose, but it's at least something more interesting.

So how exactly are ninjas made of paper more believable than robots?

Just thinking of how the Origami Ninjas can inflict paper cuts on the turtles is painful in of itself

For Rise, I think the oragami schtick works. I certainly prefer them to robots.

Think about the Mirage stories where we got to meet some Foot guys. Got to get in their heads. Flesh and blood, real living and breathing ninjas stalking and trying to kill the Turtles... that's interesting.

Robots? What's that? There's nothing there. Not at all.

Or even just getting to see the Turtles murdering their enemies. And realizing... um, this isn't heroic. This is clan warfare. Damn. Splinter is kind of an asshole for raising kids to carry on his blood feud.

But no, robots getting blowed the heck up for Saturday morning ratings? Sure, why not. Sell dem toys.

I'm still not sure how much this is actually addressed when this is the case.

I do think paper fits the mood for this series better. And considering that Michelangelo is being depicted as more artistic than the others, his reaction to them would be something along the lines of

"Enemies made of paper, you say?"

Not really with the exception of that one issue where we follow the perspective of a foot ninja, the foot grunts are no different from robots. Most of them are just fodders for the turtles have to defeat.

This is a question better asked when the show airs, after we see what the Origami ninja actually do.

Paper isn't appealing to me but as someone else pointed out, may suit this show.
Give me humans overall but so far as the turtles getting to slice something on a kids show then you can have the others, just not the whole clan maybe.

What was the in-story explanation for the switch?

In story explanation for what? We know why they went with robot Foot in the Nick cartoon, they explain it.

As for Rise, we obviously won't know. Why are you asking questions about a show that hasn't aired yet?

Someone else might explain better but the Kraang basically supplied Shredder with robotic foot soldiers as a deadly weapon against the turtles, his human soldiers were diminishing in numbers, those who moved to NY (turtles taking them out) Have I missed anything, someone else?

Human soldiers came back when Karai started to take over the foot.
