Multi-Animal Mutants in IDW
With the way Mutagen works in IDW, as seen in CityFall, mutagen can take advantage of foreign DNA as long as it is injected into a target, creating a hybrid. In previous canons, this possibility is either never explored (2003, Mirage, etc) or rendered impossible (most TV versions) due to the Mutagen physics resulting in only two animal genes being combined without added intellect. Here, however? It would be need to see sapient mutations of two animals at once. We could even get a mutant gryphon this way.

I don't know, that would be taking things a bit too far for me.

I think they already established that more than two species in the hybrid combination wouldn't work. Their version of Mutagen Man is a failed attempt at splicing more than one animal together.

I know. More than two species would cause an overload; but most mutants are one species mutants; and all the two-species ones (B+R, Gang of Four, Mona, etc) have had one species be human, which served as the "base" species with the added DNA from the other; so, it is likely a sapient two-animal mutant without human DNA is still possible. I could see a new Snakeweed being snake+plant with no human DNA, for example.
