What is there to celebrate?
Or it's another case, where anything that brings more "freedom" is celebrated just because? But, I guess, "keyboard-progressives" will latch on any stupidity, because "it's freedom!11!!". |

Shocking. True, true. I still remember the outrage against Janet Jackson.

that moment when you've clearly run out of reasons to rail against "keyboard-progressives"

I am just trying to understand, what so cool about allowing usage of profanity, that some people act all giddy about? What is so progressive or good about? It's like you don't hear this **** in day-to-day life or somebody had removed limits on how many ****s you can give in regular discussion. Or is that just because any "victory for the personal freedom, no matter how strange it is, is awesome!!"? And with "progressives" like you, normal people will never run out of reasons to laugh about you. Quote:
[dramatic mode on] Or it's just that out dear "keyboard-progressives" with such high intellect, great morality, paragons of virtues are incapable to make a point without using profanity? And Glorious Canada finally allowed to give as much ****s about Trump as possible!! Yay!! Big ****ing ahcievement!! I am so happy about your ****ing cause!! Now you ****ing finally can ****ing fight Trump full force!! Yay! By using as many ****s as you want on Canadian radio! That' what was missing to defeat him!! Yay!! All is ****ing right in the world!! ****!! ****!! ****!![/dramatic mode off] P.S. Still salty about lost discussion? That's what happens when you use illogical ******** to prove your points. P.P.S. BTW, it was allowed only on French radios, where it doesn't consider the same "weight" as in English. A wonderful achievement for a wonderful progress!! All francophones of US will be happy... Oh, wait... Last edited by Sumac; 12-04-2017 at 10:54 AM. |

Were I ever to run for public office, I'd just speak in nothing but four-letter words and keep paying the fines as I mocked them and the FCC for not allowing me to speak like a true American.
I promise you, voters would eat that up and I'd be in quicker than Donald Trump getting backstage access to a beauty pageant.

I want to agree, but I think that would have to depend on which party platform you ran on.
One qualified guy from one of the major parties never made it to the election because of an overenthusiastic WAHOOOO! Where as if you run with the other one, you can ... well, we've all seen the news.

"Mister Cylons, what do you have to say on the other candidate's position regarding--" "He can go fvck himself." "Sir, this is broadcast television. You can't say that!" "I just fvcking did. He's a check for the FCC; they can go fvck themselves, too." Tell me voters won't go wild over that and vote for me regardless of anything else...

But what it has to do with news at hand and my question, what is so cool about it? Since you are specialist in Virtue Signaling and pseudo-progressive discourse, I will trust your qualified opinion. |

This has absolutely squat to do with "freedom" or "progressivism". But everything to do with Canadian francophones just not viewing "fvck" as severely as anglophones everywhere. It's a microscopic adjustment to a slightly changed cultural norm.
They just don't give a "fvck". So that's why, at least on radio programs, they're allowing a little less severity. It's not reflective of how anglophones should handle it, especially American anglophones. It matters even less to them because the word might be extremely vulgar in the English language, but not necessarily when incorporated into French. Someone in the comments of the article described it this way Quote:

I have asked, why people in this thread celebrate it as some great achievement, when it's pretty negligible and rather mundane news.

No one here celebrated as a great achievement but for some reason you used it as a platform to whine about keyboard warriors
