EDIT:
And... it's done.

I just picked up a copy of Leonardo #1 for $10. Supposedly it is in nm condition.

It feels like that book is going to go up in value as time goes on. Seems to have sort of escaped the market for now, maybe by way of not being an “Eastman and Laird tmnt” title. But it comes from that very first Mirage arc, as we all know, and is an important piece of the classic TMNT lore. Also one of the relatively rare issues to have Peter and Kevin directly collaborating.

I’m sure it’s going to eventually climb in price with those other classic Mirage issues, so it feels like a good time to pick it up. People are sleeping on it. I think “The River” issues may be good pick-ups, as well. There’s a fair chance we never see those issues reprinted.

Mirage #10 has always been my fav tmnt issue, so I had to have the lead in.

My birth day is closer to the end of WW2 then it is to the current day.

So yeah. Totally with you. 1940's/1950's seemed like ancient history back in the 90's. The 80's doesn't seem all that far away to me, but it is.

Michael Dooney posted this on his Facebook page today:

Not sure if "closed it's doors" means it has been sold, put up for auction, or whatever, but it's yet another "end of an era" even in Mirage's history.

According to Jim the building is being taken over by a video game company.

If only it was Konomi, then it would have been symbolic. Alas, Mirage Group now reverts to its name and is once more a Mirage.

Why would "Konomi" take over a building in the middle of nowhere Massachusetts? It's basically hicksville U.S.A. It's most likely an indie game studio that moved in there.

Did he make a public post somewhere or just an exchange between you two?

It is sad this event will go unnoticed without a word from Peter or a commemorative last group shot of all the Mirage guys.

Kind of morbid to think with how old all these guys are right now, in another 10-15 years most of them will probably be dying or in the last stages of their lives. And that's assuming they all hit 80.

Seriously dude what is with your obsession over age? We all get it that getting old sucks but it’s ridiculous how you’re always bringing it up! Maybe you should look at it another way? Like maybe we should all be so lucky to reach an old age? Unless you feel like $h!+!!!

We should all say it out loud, what we all know but are afraid to say it, hoping there really is a chance but there isn't.

Laird will never finish Vol.4, he has no intention and will never feel like it.

I mean it wouldn't have bothered me if Laird didn't keep saying he wanted to see Volume 4 finished around 2014 or so and kept saying he wanted to get it done. He basically led people on to think he would finish it. I also don't know why he didn't just give the story outline to Jim Lawson, and let Jim just write the story basically on the direction PL wanted the series to go and do the art for about 6 more issues.

But it's too late now.
