Dooney's take on some of the non-turtle characters is VERY interesting. I only had one issue of this magazine but it fell apart.

Also, the cover to the Summer 1992 issue (#9): http://www.flickr.com/photos/22047800@N07/4390958486/ I blacked out the address of the last person to own it, since I picked it up used. I figured "Ms Lisa Vancleave" might appreciate that. If anybody has a clearer cover unobscurred by the subscription address, then feel free to contribute!

I've considered it, but I'm guessing that would be against forum rules. Maybe I'll ask Krang.
EDIT: I'm guessing it would be ok to post some comic crops for your enjoyment though! I do like that early 90s colorized Jim Lawson style!

Interesting, they do seem to be alternative takes on Archie stories. I like the different artwork and Jim Lawson's old Archie art is interesting.

Well by scanning them we're basically archiving something that will NEVER be re-released. Its not like we're posting episodes which can be bought on DVD and some company might want to have remove since its something recent. Heck I doubt the company that did it remembers or is even still in business today.

If Krang doesn't want all this vile criminal activity going on in the forum, just upload it elsewhere and we can PM you for the URL.

The audio for Turtles Forever was posted on the forums.
There was no shades of grey on that one it was clearly illegal and it was allowed. not to mention just three or four threads below this one there is a thread with a link with scans to pretty much most TMNT, DC and Marvel comics... |

I haven't checked with Krang yet, but I won't post any full story scans here without approval. As it is, the precedent suggests it would be a negative answer.
But as I already said, if you check my flickr stream, you might find something you like. Just sayin.'

For something to be illegal someone needs to care. No one cares about old magazines that barely anyone has heard of. I highly doubt Viacom even knows TMNT had a magazine and they're the ones who would be raising a fuss.Since they stand to make zero money off the fact that TMNT had a magazine even if they did know it wouldn't be worth their time to do anything. I'm sure someone has them scanned somewhere. You can torrent almost the entire comic run.

No. For something to be illegal, it simply needs to be against written law. That someone does or does not care does not matter. While it may be unlikely for someone to care enough to prosecute, that does not remove the liability one could face if the copyright holder wanted to prosecute, which they would have every right to do. In the context of these forums, it is Krang who would be held responsible. Thus, it is his call what he does and doesn't want here.

Do you know this to be true or are you just guessing? Not calling you out, you just happened to be the one to bring it up. After reading this I went searching for a court case because I was simply interested. Has a forum administrator ever been tried/convicted in the united states for the content of their forum? I think its a fascinating question.

oh come on, first of all yeah lots of things are "illegal", in fact using "the technodrome" as a name is very likely to be illegal but very rarely does any company go out against fan websites. Same thing with images, unless you own them technically all the image cap threads are also illegal. Your website Ninja Pizza is highly illegal. But fact is no one cares about old magazines or some old TMNT cassette tape from your childhood. In most cases a lot of those companies don't even exist anymore. We're are archiving something that will be lost forever in time, I mean if there was a way to legally download the magazine then I'd be all over it but realistically that is never going to happen. They'd only care if the magazine was recent and the full scans rule was put for the comics which even though there are no trades for them there could (have) eventually be. Of course there won't be any trouble over something like this, if they cared they first would go after all the episodes uploaded on youtube.
Worst case scenario they are not going to take the technodrome offline they would email krang a cease and desist and would have to remove said content and thats the end of it. And yeah the audio for Turtles Forever was posted here which is actually more relevant to an illegal/legal discussion, maybe a direct link to the mp3 wasn't posted but to the blogpost or website was, how else would I know what "ninja pizza" was to download the mp3? heck all the commercials we're posting in the toy thread are also illegaly uploaded I guess we should close that thread too. Uploading comics/episodes is a big no-no and even though I doubt anyone would notice/care (rangerboard does this for power rangers and is a much more popular site and the most popular power rangers site), but you can understand krang not wanting to post them here as there could possibly be some cease and desist. |

spd raises some very good points and for the most part I agree. I think it would be best when posting about this subject to not say: "you cant because its illegal" but to say: "you cant because the moderators of this forum are against it"
I think we could all accept that line of reasoning over peoples vague ideas of whats acceptable. I've actually been wanting to share some tmnt magazine and uk stories from tmht. Is it all right to post links to our flickr accounts? |

I've asked Krang over in the Questions/Comments/Suggestions thread what he thinks of it all, ie if we are allowed to post up such scans, etc.
