Probably how "Tilley" is starting to show up as Renet's surname elsewhere despite only being mentioned in one thing ever, that almost nobody (comparatively) has read.
Either way it's something official so that's something at least...

Seriously though, I just found the name on the wiki, and it seemed to fit. So iI take it nobody actually knows where it came from? OY!
No. I don't think you will confuse anyone with using the name in fanfiction.

As Powder said because I am a fan of his he accepted my Facebook friends request. I don't know the guy personally although him and his wife know me as a regular on their Facebook posts for three or more years.

I told him of some of the criticism I got here from a couple of users and his response was he doesn't visit fan boards because he gets angry. Read into that as you will.

If you know Christy Marx you might want to ask her since she wrote the teleplay for Return of the Shredder.

Is it possible Langenstein came from the Archie series?

I don't think so. She's barely in that series since she never appears after the cartoon adaptions stop, and that was only like 8 issues, the mini and 1-4.

Nope. The dialogue was, for the most part, lifted from the show with a few extra gags here and there. They wouldn't give Irma a made up last name if the episodes they were adapting never did.

Sounds to me like the leading theory is that some dude/dudette just made something up for IMDb early in the previous decade and it has stuck to the character ever since.

Christy Marx was the writer who introduced Irma so she's the next best person to ask.

I listened to the Turtleflakes podcast, and the podcasters said the season 2 episode adaptions were the original scripts.

No... quite simply... she never had a last name in the old series. It's as simple as that. Just like Zack and his brother (Walt was it?) never had last names either. I mean, next thing ya know, people are gonna swear that Wyrm was in the show due to that one commercial that animated him for a split second.

Or at least a callback to an old legend.

Is that from an upcoming issue?

it's a retcon but now Langistein is totally canon, sure different universes but most tend to follow the same rules so I allow it.

No, it's just basically April introducing readers to the world of the turtles.

EDIT: Scan provided
