How old is Steve Murphy?

Hi there, I'm new here and I registered only to ask this question, how old is Steve Murphy?

According Wikipedia he was born on November 3, 1980. I find this claim rather questionable since that would mean he started his career in comic books before he was even ten years old, that's not impossible but it's hard to believe.

The source is this entry in a French database but I don't know how trustworthy it is: http://catalogue.bnf.fr/servlet/Rech...host=catalogue

Here is Steve Murphy's blog. You can ask him how quick out of college he got involved with Mirage Studios to tag an approximate age on him without asking quite blank since it can be rude in most situations to ask a person his or her age. No site gives a birthdate for him but I suspect he was born betweeb 1962 and 1965 so around 50 in a strong guess. Remember anyone can edit wikipedia and unless a cited source is aviailable take the information like a grain of salt.

Pretty sure he's not much younger than Kevin or Pete, so he's likely over 50.

Well there is a source, it's just that I don't know if it's trustworthy and it seems pretty odd that an 8 year old kid would start a lifelong career in comic books.

He wasn't born in 1980. There's a interview (dead)linked to from that page. If we load up a wayback version...

PDR: What was the first comic book you ever read?

SM: Amazing Spider-man #71, where Spidey battles the mutant Quicksilver.

PDR: What were your favorite comic books growing up?

SM: By "growing up" I'll limit myself to childhood. Amazing Spider-man, Captain America, Daredevil, Avengers and Metamorpho. Late-sixties to early seventies stuff.

Regardless of age he's a super nice guy! I bought a number of the original art pieces of the TMNT Newspaper strip from him off ebay that he wrote and had art by Jim Lawson and Ryan Brown. After buying a number of them off ebay, I contacted him and we corresponded a bit and we ended up agreeing on a great price for a whole week's worth of the original art from the Newspaper strip. So I now have I think between 12-15 days of the original art from the TMNT Newspaper Comic strip, including the entire week's worth of strips that includes Christmas 1991. That was a big TMNTcentric Chrismas for me, I got a lot of figures and the Turtlevan that year, so it was extra special to get the strips from Christmas of that year. I hope I get the chance to meet him in person sometime!

Old enough to know better, young enough not to care?

It's most likely because he fears the world will come to an end in his lifespan due to global warming and the ozone lair disappearing as well as glaciers melting.

In the best possible way!

Say what you will about Murph, but I've always dug his introspective style of writing.

Perhaps it boils down to first impressions in my particular case, as the first 2 Mirage books I read was "Sons of the Silent Age" followed by "Soul's Winter".

I find it bizarre this thread was taken seriously. I'm pretty sure you can find his age online if you look well enough. I'm sure he's somewhere from around 50-60.

I actually did try to look up Murphy on the Library of Congress Authorities for the books he's written. I actually found his entry somewhat confusing. Seems like a number of authors named Murphy all got lumped together:
http://authorities.loc.gov/cgi-bin/P...R3rII45fMor_km

Unless, Mirage's Murphy also happens to have more varied interests than any of us might have expected.
