There are much more interesting supporting characters in the entire Turtle Universe, Karai for one or even Tiger Claw. Hell, I'd love a series that focused on only Oroku Saki and his slow rise to the top of underworld, maybe even Karai and him, Now that would be interesting! But yeah, Judging by the 'art' if that is actually it, it seems they want to appeal to more female 'kawaii type' audience yet they don't realise how many females actually like just the turtles. SMH...
That art isn't confirmed to be the art style of the show so you can't judge it off that.

That fan art looks more suited as a web series. Not something that I would see on tv.

How so? I think it looks beautiful either way.

It just looks like something that can made with flash animation which is often a go to software for small projects like this.

It's cute as an art piece and no insult intended to the artist, but I think as an art style for animation...pretty sure it would give me cavities, an overactive gag reflex, and type 2 diabetes.

Not that I'd be personally forced to watch. But the art style is just suggestive of a sort of character type/personality that's already been aimed at girls a lot and not a path I'd personally want to see anything of TMNT go down.

If Nasus Lee does end up working on the spin-off show, I'll be happy, since it looks like she did some of the scenes of the Mondo Gecko episode, and I really liked the humor of that episode:
https://vimeo.com/134181087

And, hey, looks like she also did some work on the upcoming Triceraton/Raphael fight scene!

According to her Facebook page, she drew that April O'Neil doodle at the request of her "boss," so everybody should stop calling it "fan art" even if there's no confirmation it will actually be connected to the spin-off series. Sounds like she was at least on the clock for this doodle:

It's still fan art, she's a fan & it's not official media, despite her position at the company. To call it anything else would further push the confusion that is has something to do with this pilot.

Well, I'll certainly grant that she seems to be a genuine fan. It's nice to know folks who work on the shows have a genuine appreciate for the characters.

Spoiler:
(Plus, it's kinda fun to worry folks on this thread)

That is cruel, LOL! And on-topic, I don't really care for that art style at all. It's too "cute-sey" for my taste.

The only problem I'm having with the art style is that April is mostly all hips and legs in the drawing....

...reminds me a bit of sailor moon.

Well I will admit that I had similar apprehension towards Steven Universe so maybe this would be a similar case and somehow the art style itself will grow on you after a while.

She's "all hips & legs" in the Nick show too, yo. Accentuating her figure is nothing new.

No what I'm saying is she's supposed to be 16 right? She looks like she has a 20 year old body, with super shorts and a tight shirt.

bottomline to put it bluntly, I feel like the art style is sexualizing April a bit.

like in sailor moon we are supposed to believe this

Is 14.

Considering it's fan art, where one has creative liberty to do as they wish, what does it matter?

No if it's fanart that's fine but if it's for the actually show then I have a problem.

My only real problem with it is the face looks too round and "cheeky", and the odd-looking uneven boobs. Seriously, one's actually higher than the other?! Weird, and kind of amateurish, to me.

But this is fine? Not terribly different.

The only problem I have with that April is her incredibly tight shirt.

but other than that, she's not like the fanart.

so yea I'm more okay with it.
