Dragon Quest III + I & II HD-2D remakes

Dragon Question III HD-2D remake is out today on PS5, Switch, and more.

Honestly, I can't wait to get my hands on it. Dragon Warrior III was a magical game to me as a kid. So much grinding and adventure, and then how it tied into Dragon Warrior I was mind-blowing. And this HD-2D remake looks like exactly how I sort of wished JRPGs evolved past, say, DQVI and Final Fantasy VI -- not using the rapidly evolving graphics of the late 90s and early 2000s to slowly dumb everything down and make everything movie-like or, worse, into like just an actual J-Pop music video.

This looks like it uses a 3D frame for the world but it keeps everything else manageable and still invites the imagination.

So these are what? Remasters or updates of the NES Dragon Warrior games? I had all 3 of those. It's been a very long time, but IIRC the end boss of part one was SUPER hard (a big green dragon) and part II was the best although part III maybe had the biggest party?

I remember, I think it was part III had "Metal Slimes" that usually ran away but once you were SUPER powerful and killed them they yielded either HUGE XP or Gold, although I can't remember which one

Yes, 4K remakes of Dragon Warrior I-III (starting with III, which is first in the story anyway) with sprite-based models over a 3D environment. And a full-on Japanese orchestra doing the music every step of the way.

Huge XP. Though I think the metal slimes were also in at least II? Certainly every DQ after that. I seem to remember a giant King Metal Slime, too. And Metal Babbles.

Another neat remaster thingy that I'd like to play, but I won't. At this point the only games I can see letting myself lose time with are the new Indiana Jones which I have no idea how to play unless I got a new computer, and Parasite Eve if, God forbid, they ever remaster those games and I finally get a chance to play the 3rd one that was only ever released on the PSP.

You can't really call it a remaster. It's totally rebuilt. The only thing in common with the original games is that the characters are both sprite-based.

I've been hearing some bad things about it. As in, they might not have been done ruining Indiana Jones with the last movie.
