I replaced most of the Photobucket links in my collection thread with Tinypic links. It's sad that this thread got so screwed up though

It's more like coloured ink wash, it's like a thicker paint than watercolour for sure. How Stan coloured a LOT of his pieces that he did in the 80s. He stopped doing it (along with stamping with the red hanko mark) around 1992, although I do own a piece from 1996 that was coloured by him, probably due to time constraints, as he started to get ever more popular.

I remember the days of $20 OA pages. If only I had bought more back then. |

Dude, great pieces. Seriously both pages are grail pages. I think you have the best collection (outside of E&L) that's publicly known about.

Yep, you are correct. 2007 was when I got my first pieces, from Image, then some random late issue ones, then a CAW page or 2. Going into 2008 I got my first early piece and that's around when I finally realized where my collection was headed. The stuff I liked most happened to the most expensive...so the Great Dismantle occurred and basically all my toys and rare comics, like Gobbledys and Gold Turtlemania, went. Then I slowly picked up more early material...a page here or there. And even then I had to sell some prime early material in order to get others. Its been a slow (but fun!) grind and I'm super excited where my collection is. Thanks for the kind words! I don't know if it's the best, but it's been crafted to the best of my abilities over many, many years. This conversation got me thinking about when I got the main pieces that makeup my main collection. For the most part, it really has been a page here, a page there, year after year. Slow and steady! I think a good key to your success has been selling prime material for even better prime material. My problem is, it's hard for me to let go of prime stuff. That makes it harder to go after the better stuff, especially in today's market!
I've often wanted to do the "one big piece a year" thing, but I find myself going after the smaller fish more often. If only I had discipline and could hold out. |

I'm in the same boat. I've wanted one large piece for a while, but I'm having trouble getting rid of my smalls and mediums. I sold maybe half my collection, but it's hard to get rid of some stuff and I end up buying more and more, although I've been pretty good the last year

I'm almost certain this is the only commission of the character. Wachter's Splinter is awesome and he did a great job on this slight twist to the character.

Speaking of smaller but cool acquisitions, I just acquired this page today. A nice addition to my City at War collection:

Saw it on Comic Link auction and threw my high bid in before I went on vacation, along with a couple of others. I was outbid on the others, but won this one.
